Sadly pushing our date back again it’s the right thing to do

So after another close friend is diagnosed with Covid19 and my Husband loosing an Uncle to his battle with Covid19 we held hands last night talked and made the decision to push back to 2021. We just feel like it’s too high risk in NC right now to have a wedding ceremony and reception at a time where 6 feet apart and masks needs to be followed and respected. I felt suddenly panicked about knowing I wear a mask EVERY where else I go around strangers and those outside my immediate house yet I was almost willing to compromise that to get my make up done for the wedding that felt like backwards thinking. My Husband expressed his feeling the same way after the Barber he knew who only did personal appointments was diagnosed with Covid19 about getting his hair cut. Even though we got her a face shield we start to think of the immediate danger we could possibly be putting our two month old niece in because she has to attend with both her parents being in the wedding. And then the reception people would still be sitting too close and is the mask really helpful if we are lifting them up to eat? We then thought about our older guests who have been practicing social distancing very well up to this point basically throwing it all away to be there for us by being around younger people who have went to beaches, parties etc (which we weren’t too thrilled to know some of our guests even wedding party members like my MOH has went to get her nails done to the beach, parties etc) We had to look at ourselves and say we would be responsible for compromising others health right now with cases still rising in NC and it was super hard but we pushed back to next year. Being as though we did elope on July 5th we decided to keep our plans to still go away to Georgia and keep our honeymoon suite just the two of us so the week doesn’t come around and make us feel sad 😞. This is so hard and I’m already sad but in my heart I know it’s right to be safe than sorry.

I can relate to your feelings. We are in Hampton Roads area of VA and our region is spiking. We postponed from April to September of this year and still moving forward, just with a lot of reception revisions.

Sounds like you made the right call for you two, and will enjoy your day more because of it.

I’m so sorry and understand. It was a hard decision for us too to postpone, but with FMIL’s health and the cases on the rise here, it was the right thing to do.

I truly agree we have at least 10 older people coming who all have health compromises the youngest one of them is 60. And then the two month old just can’t see us jeopardizing their health

I was sad at first too, then we started looking at everything and replanning...

There are opportunities to do things better or differently so that lifted my spirits up! Smiley smile

You will come out of this one way or another.
