Rsvp-ing at the last second

Elycia, on January 24, 2023 at 11:59 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

Did you all also deal with the majority of your RSVP's coming in at the very last minute? We have our RSVP's due Feb. 4th, which I know is still a week and a half away, but we've only had maybe a quarter of our guest list RSVP and it's all close family. Most of our wedding parties haven't even responded yet and we know they'll be there. I know it shouldn't make me anxious but it does. Please tell me this is normal and they'll all flood in next week lol.

My husband and I had to reach out to a good amount of people on our guest list to remind them to RSVP once our deadline had passed. I think people often receive the invite, then set it aside to RSVP later, and then forget to go back and RSVP. It's pretty common to have to reach out to people after the deadline to remind them that you're still waiting for their reply.

We got a bunch of RSVPs last minute. I think we set our RSVP deadline on a Thursday, gave people the weekend incase something was stuck in the mail, and we still wound up chasing a handful of responses. Sometimes people forget, sometimes people are still trying to work out childcare or kenneling for pets, and sometimes people don't know they need to respond. I try to put it out of your mind (as much as possible lol) until the deadline.

You'll get a lot of them. Some people might not RSVP, and you'll have to contact them directly. It's a pain in the butt. Hope they all arrive soon!!

We had the same thing happen. Don’t worry it’s normal! You may have to reach out to them directly after the deadline, but in the end you’ll get them all.

Hi oh wow the memory of that was crazy to me like I literally had that problem. We had them first coming in fine no problem then a 2 months away and we only gotten 1 or 2 in a month. Then 5 came in when I sent out 46 invitations out to the post all at once. So September rolls in I handed out others and got yes or not sure and only a few couldn't make it. So yes I was stressed out then some returns because some moved and didn't let us know. Had to rewrite them with new envelopes that I had to order more but thankful that the ppl I ordered our invitations from did not charge me. And funny thing we had gotten RSVPS 2wks after we were already married lol lol

You'll get a lot a few days after the deadline. Lots of people wait til the due date to drop in the mail. Just follow up with anyone you don't hear from after Feb 7/8 directly.

My FH was a groomsman at his friend’s wedding, and they had to chase him for an RSVP because he thought since it was “obvious” he would be there, he didn’t need to send one. Others in your wedding party might be making the same mistake.
