Royal Caribbean vs Carnival

SB, on June 27, 2018 at 9:44 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11

Which one do you prefer? Considering a cruise for the honeymoon and can't decide which cruise line to book with! Do you prefer a different one to these? We are looking for one that leaves from Galveston as we don't want to fly to a port.

I like Royal better. I just feel like it's just a little bit better. Their ships also tend to have more fun stuff, life rock climbing walls. Carnival is usually more of a party ship. I've been on both and had fun on both. I don't think youll choose wrong

That's what I've heard. Royal is more of a relaxed environment and that's more of what we're looking for. The only thing that stinks is Carnival has dates the Monday after our wedding and we would have to wait a couple weeks for Royal. I guess that's not too big of a deal. Thanks, Cassidy!

Hi SB!!! I, unfortunately, haven't had the chance to experience my first cruise but I have heard good things about both! Some say that Royal has more activities to enjoy and is full of excitement. I have heard that Carnival is more family-friendly but still a good time! There is a great community discussion that shares the pros and cons of both that you'll definitely enjoy!

I've never been on a Carnival cruise but I love Royal. I have been on 4 or 5 Royal cruises and would absoutley go again. If your interested in any other cruise lines my H and I just came back from our honeymoon on Norweigan and we loved them as well.

Thank you Jayla and Jen! RC seems to be more of what we're looking for at the moment. That discussion was a huge help!

I think that I now prefer Royal Caribbean to Carnival. I think I just like the food and atmosphere more on RC.

If you're honeymooning in March, I would keep in mind that college spring breaks tend to fall within that month. I went on cruises in college for spring break on both cruise lines and they were both about 1/4 - 1/2 filled with college students. While Royal Caribbean may be more relaxed in general, that may not be the case during that time of the year.

That's very true. We definitely picked a prime spring break date! Maybe having to wait a few weeks after the wedding to go isn't a bad idea. Give spring break a chance to end and die down. Thank you for the advice!

Royal Caribbean for sure... I've been on 4 cruises - the first was Carnival; the next three were Royal. The boats are just a lot nicer and less cramped IMO.

I definitely prefer Royal Caribbean over Carnival. I had nothing but trouble on the Carnival cruise I went on. When we first got there our room was dirty and was never cleaned. There literally was someone's dirty socks on the floor still. We also had trouble with our card the entire time. They give you a card to charge your drinks and stuff like that on and it also opens your door. We had to get a new one every day of the cruise because it didn't work for some reason. The ship was ok overall, but Royal Caribbean was so much better. The ships looked to be in much better condition, the food was better, and the staff was more friendly.

I've been on both, I like Royal better, but I don't think you have to stay away from Carnival. Look at which ship you'll be going on. The newer ships are waaaaay better, regardless of which cruise line.

Carnival is definitely better if you're not going during a school vacation. Otherwise, it could get overrun with kids (same could be true for Royal, but I'm not sure).

I prefer Royal over Carnival but highly recommend Norwegian. Of the 10 cruises my family has been on 2 were carnival and just weren't our thing. 1 was with Royal and it was quite a bit of fun, but 7 have been on Norwegian and we always go back to them. They have amazing staff, lots of activities for all ages, beautiful ports, and there is always something going on.
