Rings Soldered BEFORE the wedding?

Cassidy, on September 21, 2017 at 8:57 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

I'm seeing a lot of posts about people who are getting their rings soldered BEFORE the wedding. I plan on getting mine soldered and when I asked the local jeweler he said it was most common to get them soldered after. Maybe I'm just in an area that is way behind the times (which wouldn't be so far from the truth...lol)

How can your husband/wife put the wedding band on your hand if it's attached to your engagement ring already? I really thought it was bad juju to wear your wedding band before being married.

Are you getting your engagement ring soldered before or after.

I'm not having them soldered at all. Is that weird?

Idk I have thought about this a lot. I definitely have to go get my band sized and I also want them soldered. I don't really want to have to take it back after wedding to get that done though. I guess I could have them do it the week of the wedding, wear a temporary engagement ring that week, and then put the rings on at the wedding.

I didn't have mine soldered - I like having the option of wearing just my wedding band

Why don't you think it's a good idea? I don't want my rings turning around on my fingers.

I got mine down before the wedding. I love how they are soldered together. I do have a simple silver band to wear also.

I can't understand why you'd only want to wear the band. I love my engagement ring. I get it, you work with your hands. That's a good reason to not do it. But for those of us who don't want to wear just the bands, why before the wedding?

We had mine soldered and picked it up last saturday. Wedding is this saturday. I have had a naked finger for at least a week. Just don't wear it before the wedding. I got it soldered before because I am too afraid I will lose them if they are not soldered. Personal preference, in my opinion.

I didn't want mine soldered. My jeweler did ask me about it prior to the wedding when I came in to pick up my band, and I said I really didn't think I wanted to do it. He said he thought it was a good idea to wait until after the wedding to decide anyway, when a bride has been wearing both rings together for a bit and knows whether having the separate rings bothers her or not. If it doesn't bother you, great. If it does, you know for sure you want them soldered. While soldering apparently is a reversible process, it's simpler to try wearing your rings unsoldered for a little while than to try wearing then soldered first and find out you don't like it and have to take your rings back in.

My band was made to fit into the curves if my e-ring, so they don't actually get misaligned that often, and I like the freedom to be able to wear just my band occasionally.

Of course, if you're absolutely certain you want your rings soldered, I don't see why you couldn't go ahead and do it before your wedding. If it had been something I wanted for myself, I'd have stopped wearing my e-ring once I got it soldered and worn a different ring that I owned in it's place until my wedding day to avoid wearing my band early.

I'm gonna do it before the wedding! If you do hard work that could cause damage, you shouldn't wear your wedding band either. Just solder them and purchase a Qualo band or something to wear during work

I am of the opinion that soldered wedding bands with an engagement ring defeat the purpose of both. The only reason they exist is because huge engagement rings are a recent phenomenon. The older ladies of the past upgraded to bigger diamonds for status reasons and had them attached to their wedding rings. Ergo current brides thinking this is normal.

I will have a gap but I don't care because my engagement ring is a separate thing from my actual wedding band. I will never take off the band whatsoever, but will take off the ring if doing a very messy activity.

The reason I wanted to solder them together is because I don't see the point of wearing two rings on the same finger when you are engaged to be married--and after you're married your engagement was for your marriage. I love my engagement ring and that was a pre-cursor to my marriage so to me there is no separation of a wedding band and engagment ring.

But to each his own. Smiley smile . I take my ring off for cooking and sleeping and showering and going to the beach. I don't feel the need to wear it cooking meatloaf haha!
