Ring Resizing

Caytlyn, on August 8, 2019 at 6:21 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
My engagement ring fits fine 9 months out of the year, but is super tight when my fingers swell in the summer. I tried my engagement ring on with my wedding band the other day. I had been inside in the AC and didn’t seem to be swollen, but they’re super tight when worn together. I’m wondering how close to the wedding I can wait to have them resized so I can make sure the tightness isn’t weather related. We’re about 3.5 months out, but I’m not sure how long resizing will take. Anyone know the average? Bonus points if it’s from Jared.

I had my ring resized, and it was done on the spot. You could check with local jewelry places to see how long it would normally take them.

I am across the country from my jeweler and counting shipping I had my ring back in two weeks (It was taken from an 8 to 7). I would say 3/4 weeks from the wedding just to be extra safe.

I had this experience as well. My rings were bought from a local jeweler.

I would do it soon because you dont want to get close to the wedding date and they say it’s going to take forever.

I’d be surprised if it took more than a week....mine was a few days. Call and ask to be sure, but I don’t think we’re coming up on any busy season in the next couple of months, so you should be fine waiting til the weather cools, which I think is a good idea.

I got my ring from a local jeweler and he was able to resize it on the spot in less than 15 minutes. Also mine was only slightly big so he suggested taking it down an eighth of a size, which I didn’t know was possible, but now it fits perfectly! So I would say if you don’t have luck at your original place, try a local jeweler. It is possible to do it quickly and resize by only a small amount which may be just what you need.

My wedding band is a half size larger than my engagement ring to help keep my finger comfortable from the swelling.

Most Sterling jeweler are 3-6 weeks based on the time of year. Just an FYI if you have maintenance or repairs done by a local jeweler it voids the warranty through Jared’s.

My rings are from Jared's and when I asked how long resizing would take they said about a week.

So I just got my set back. My E ring and my band both fit just fine alone, but together it was tight. My jeweler told me the more bands you have (1 vs. 2 vs. 3) the tighter it would be. I had them bump the size of both rings up about a quarter of a size (if I remember right). I had it sent out and got it back 2 weeks later, resized, solderd, and dipped. It looks beautiful and fits perfectly! Your jeweler should be able give you an idea of how much you should size up and turn around shouldn't be too long.
