Richmond, va Wedding Cakes

Shana, on May 29, 2019 at 9:28 PM Posted in Virginia Planning 1 10

I have been looking for somewhere to get wedding cake for months. It seems everyone takes advantage of weddings and charges an arm and a leg. We thought about just getting a wedding cake from Sam's Club but I want my cake to have better flavors and designs. Does anyone know of anywhere in the Richmond, VA area that could do a 3-tiered cake for under $400? There's only 155 days left until our wedding day and there is still so much to do.

Have you tried Publix?? We got ours from there. I’ve also attached a photo of our cake, the only difference is we added 15 additional cupcakes.

Oops I forgot to also include the prime. We paid $300. That price also include the cake stand it’s on. If we return it back in the same condition as we rented it they will refund us $75 back to us.

We're using Katherines Connections. We're doing a 3 tier cake with a design similar to the photo (that's a cake she made) with a 12 inch sheet cake (in the back) for $490. Each tier will be a different flavor and the price includes delivery. She has many different cake, filling & icing flavors to choose from. I also like that she doesnt use fondant. She's been so great to work with too. You can search for her on WW to see more of her work.

I will check her out too. I'm afraid my cake might need fondant though. Thank you!

    Ayy RVA!

Maybe try expanding your search to Midlothian / Mechanicsville? I think things tend to be more expensive in the city. If that's giving you no luck, maybe opt for a faux 3 tier cake for pictures but actually serve sheet cake.

I got my cake in Richmond. It was between The Mixing Bowl which was around $400, but we ultimately chose Westhamption Pastry Shop, our cake is 3 tier and we paid somewhere around $250. Fondant will run you a little more though

My friend used the same place with the same strategy and liked them. I’m still on the hunt though or even wondering whether we should just do a dessert bar.

We went with the Mixing Bowl bakery in Richmond because of their mini-pies. We're having a small cake for the cake-cutting ceremony, but for our medieval-thrmed wedding, the pies were what sold us!
