Relationship Milestone: The first 'I love you'

My future husband did the same thing but we where on FaceTime and I look at him crazy and we also laugh about it to 😂🤣.

We were in my apartment after one of our month dating anniversaries, and he just kind of looked at me and said "I love you." It seems laughably silly, but I had to ask him to repeat a few times before I could say it back lol.

I love this idea! My fiancé and I also met while we were both in college but our schools were 45 mins from each other. I commuted and didn’t live on campus so I was at her dorm at least 3 days a week. We both drove sooo much back and forth to see each other but that’s what you do when you’re young and in love!


About four months into our relationship, we were taking a shower together and I was ready to tell her that I loved her. I kept wanting to talk and then choked up and turned away. I could barely breathe. Then once we were all cuddled up in bed I told her I had to tell her something and then I blurted it out. She immediately said it back and we both bawled our eyes out. ❤️

Aww love this thread! I knew i loved my fh before we actually said it. After a few months of dating we were hanging out and i told him i was going to be his wife one day and he literally laughed 😒 🤦🏾‍♀️😂 A couple months after that I relocated to a different city for a new job and we dating long distance. I think he told me he loved me a few weeks after i moved. Haha we live together now but that 18 months of dating long distance actually made our relationship grow. He says that God was keeping him focused on me and our relationship bc he lived in a small town with probably less than 5000 people. He always says there was no way i could meet someone else in this small town. 🙄😂😂

Adorable!! My FH and I are also long distance at the moment (though not on purpose). We are stuck in different countries because of all the travel restictions. Hoping that it will strengthen our relationship too!

My H told me after our third date and I was like wth we just met. Well we knew of each other and had a few classes together in college, but never really spoke except the occasional hey and okay see ya. He was like well I love her personality and then he didn't say it again until after our second month anniversary and I was okay I love you but I'm not in love with you. It took me a good three/four months to say it back and mean it.

I think ours was around almost 4 months together. but weeks prior to he had kept hinting at it. he would say "i more than like you..." and in my head i wanted to say it first but with him hinting at it like that it just made me feel like it was gonna be anytime now aha. and then after i kept trying to bring it out of him haha because i knew it was coming but i didn't want to say it first. so i was like um what did you mean by you more than like me? and so he got really nervous and it was adorable to see him sweat about it. he took a big breath and he said babe, i.... love you. and me being the dork i am, say "you talking to me right?! if you are, i love you too!"

This sounds nuts but I knew from the moment I met him that he was my forever. I was actually dating someone else when I first met FH (it was one of those things were my boyfriend at the time as kind of toxic but I couldn't find a good reason to break up with him... dumb i know), but FH was hanging out at my apartment with my roommate (they were best friends) and I had come home from the gym to change and go over to my then boyfriends house. As i was in my car driving to previous bf's house I thought "this is it, there is something with that guy I just met and I need to get to know him better." two days later I broke up with my then bf.

About a month goes by and finally FH asked me on our first date, we have been inseparable ever since. About a week after that date he told me He loved me and of course I said it back lol. Some may say it was too fast but I truly believe what we have was love at first sight! Each day our love grows deeper and truer to each other and In less than a month I will be his wife

It was about 5 months in, and I was first. Unfortunately, I only know about it because I said it in a drunken voicemail I left him during a night out with girlfriends when I imbibed a fair bit more than usual. I do NOT remember this, but he has kept the voicemail all this time (over 3 years ago now).

We did say it soberly to each other a few months after that, and that was when he told me about my drunken voicemail admission of love. I was soooooo embarrassed, even though it's funny to think about. I'm normally very reserved and not prone to heavy drinking so it was a very out of character moment for me. Thankfully, he thought it was adorable and also realized that I wasn't ready to declare myself sober (I was still in very acrimonious separation, pending divorce when we met, and that divorce was finalized a little over a month before my drunken declaration), so he waited until I stated it sober.

We had just been intimate the day prior and we were at his brothers house. I knew I loved him by the .2nd date I told him I had something to say to him he said what I then said I love you

I could probably give the date, I'm so certain of when I said it.

We'd known each other about 3 weeks, been dating a few *days*, and we went out to dinner. The staff left us *strictly* alone - which is always a good clue that's it's a good date - and I told DH that I'd told my dad all about him. And that made me say, "I think I'm falling in love with you." DH didn't even blink. He agreed he felt the same way.

But we were a love at first sight kind of situation, so it only seems fast in retrospect (nearly 8 years later).
