Rehearsal dinner

Laura, on July 20, 2023 at 7:19 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 6
Hi again,

Is the rehearsal really important? I know we have to go to the venue and practice but the rehearsal dinner is it really necessary? What do people do in rehearsals ?

The rehearsal is for everybody to practice what they will be doing at the ceremony so it goes smoothly on wedding day. The rehearsal dinner is your way of thanking everyone for taking time out of their schedules to be in your wedding and rehearse it. So yes, if you have a rehearsal, you need to host a rehearsal dinner to thank everyone. However, some people choose to forego the rehearsal altogether. In which case, the rehearsal dinner obviously would not be required.

Rehearsal = practice. So if you want to make sure everyone in the wedding knows what they are doing then yes your want to have a rehearsal which also means you will need to have a rehearsal dinner. Like Cece said the dinner to a thank you to those that participated in the rehearsal. Rehearsal dinners don't have to be over the top or anything like that. They can be as causal or as fancy as you want, but you do need to make sure you host one.

I personally didn’t have one. We had a small wedding party and we individually thanked everyone for being in it with us and the night before the wedding we just went out to dinner with our friends. But we had a day of coordinator who knew our schedule and knew the venue so there was no practicing that had to happen. There wasn’t really much to practice: here’s the order we walk, you stand here, you stand there, etc. We didn’t need to practice that personally. But if you do choose to have a rehearsal I would say host a dinner to thank everyone for taking the time to be there

The rehearsal is good for seeing how long it takes for the wedding party to walk down the aisle and knowing when to walk down/what timing of the song. We are doing dominos pizza after the rehearsal. We don’t have time on the day of the wedding to practice as we aren’t doing a first look. Congrats!

Yes because it is a thank you for them spending their time helping you. Contrary to what the online articles insist, most people order pizza and keep it as casual and inexpensive as they can. At the rehearsal, you practice walking down the aisle in real time with the escort to make sure you know what is going on and how long the song takes. Everyone figures out where they stand.
