Rehearsal Dinner in Cincinnati during pandemic

Nick, on February 20, 2021 at 2:08 PM Posted in Ohio Planning 0 10

We're getting married on May 8, 2021 with only family attending. Since all extended family are coming from out of town, we've invited all to the rehearsal dinner on Friday. We're expecting about 65-75 people to fly/drive to Cincinnati on Friday. Do you have any recommendations on where to host the rehearsal dinner of that size in Cincinnati during the pandemic?

Hi Nick! Although I’m not from the area, many couples had tent outdoor events in a relative’s backyard with much success! We had our rehearsal dinner outdoors and rented two small tents complete with rented chivari chairs, rented tablecloths, and rented round tables for $800 dollars. It turned out more chic than I ever expected! We had 40 at our rehearsal dinner. We ended up doing it at a private club that we are not members of and only called on a prayer because everything else was closed or limited. They were more than happy to help us, so don’t disregard any private clubs, you never know until you ask!! ❤️

Have pizzas and sodas delivered. That is what most rehearsal dinners consist of. Can you rent out a community center for a few hours?

We had that exact same number of guests at our rehearsal dinner, and for the same reason too (most family members traveling from out of town). Our wedding was before the pandemic, but we rented out a rooftop party room, had a caterer do heavy app stations, bought the alcohol ourselves in bulk, and hired local students to bartend. We had an 'open' bar but only served beer, wine, and champagne. We easily would have spent over $15k at a restaurant for that number of people so we saved a lot of money this way and came in around the $3k mark. I don't know how that would work during Covid unfortunately, but possibly something to consider.

I’d try somewhere outdoors, what about a park with something easy catered like BBQ? I love Ault Park and I know they host events there, Devou Park has beautiful views of the skyline and is another favorite of mine. Good luck!

I love Cincinnati! I suggest Moerlein Lager House at the banks. They have large rooms like the Beer Baron Hall that can hold that many, in the pandemic. Rhinegeist may also have that kind of space, you should call. Good luck!

Thank you for the advice, everyone! I'm appreciate your time and find what you've shared helpful. I'm looking into alternative options like tents, community centers, and more local restaurants.

I went to an event at Washington Park’s “porch”. It is indoor-outdoor and such a fun vibe! Happy planning!

The Washington Park Porch would be great, but they aren't allowing large reservations. Thanks for the tip.

We are doing ours at the Montgomery inn boat house but you could also look into the BB riverboats
