Recommendations for US based Honeymoon?

Tiffany, on August 6, 2021 at 11:47 AM Posted in Honeymoon 1 5

Looking for recommendations for a US (or decently close to US) based, beach Honeymoon... specific resorts if at all possible.

We were originally going to plan for a honeymoon to Greece but I am too reluctant right now to travel that far with how the world is right now.

Right now, we are specifically looking at :

the Florida Keys,

Siesta Key, Florida and surrounding area

Possibly Southern California/ into Mexico (Cabo area)

Possibly Bahamas

Possibly US Virgin islands?

Any insight would be great! We also would prefer an all inclusive... it is a honeymoon after all Smiley winking

Our friends eloped and had their honeymoon in Hawaii! They said it was a blast and beautiful! I'm not sure what travel agency they used. But they did a sailboat tour, Jurassic Park atv tour, beach day, fancy dinners etc. I'm sure there are plenty of all inclusive resorts in Hawaii if you google it!

Just an FYI US Virgin Islands is a hotspot right now for the Delta variant and they have a ton of cases. I absolutely LOVED Atlantis when we stayed in the Bahamas. I've never been to Cabo but that is definitely on my bucket list once COVID gets better. Cancun/Riviera Maya are always good and they have a ton of all inclusive resorts. My husband are actually going there in October for a week.

As a native So Californian, I'm definitely biased. My best recommendation would be San Diego -- it's huge and spread out with lots to do, if you want to have a lot of options, but can also be comfortable and relaxed. Daughter and SIL spent their minimoon at Paradise Point Resort and enjoyed it very much (their bungalow had access to their own little strip of beach). They also booked some adventures off-site -- a hot air balloon ride, wine tasting, the Safari Park, etc. My understanding is there really aren't many "all inclusive" options within the US.

    The Keys!

If you've never been, it is NOT like the rest of Florida, it is 100% like the Caribbean-it's a whole different feel. All the islands have different personalities (Key West is more of a party vibe, meanwhile Marathon is all about fishing).

We are having our wedding at Baker's Cay in Key Largo, and it is truly a dream. It's a true destination and I love how the details make the difference-they are very conscious of being environmentally friendly.

Also we loved for a more romantic experience in Key West, look into the Saint Hotel. It's an adults only place that is PERFECT for a honeymoon.
