Recommendations for a Facial Brush?

Amber, on November 8, 2019 at 3:55 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 10
I’m not very knowledgeable on skincare tools, but I’d like to start a better skincare routine to help brighten my skin and stop these random breakouts I’ve been having. I have dry sensitive skin and I’ve been using Neutrogena foaming facial wash to remove my make up. I’d appreciate any recommendations on different cleansers, toners or facial brushes that you love!

I absolutely LOVE my Clarisonic. You can buy sensitive skin cleanser with it but I find it too expensive so I just use the cleanser I normally do.
Cerave has a great selection of moisturizers for sensitive skin! I usually use Maracuja oil or Shea butter to moisturize.

I too love my Clarisonic. It's so good for deep cleaning and minimizing my breakouts. I don't use their own brand cleaning gels. I just use my usual cleanser and exfoliator! I use it maybe once a week or more frequently if I'm experiencing some congestion. I know you can also get different types of heads for the brush depending on your skin type. I just have the normal one. I believe they have a sensitive one too!

Would you consider popping in to a store like Sephora, Ulta, etc. and speaking with an attendant to see what brands they recommend for sensitive skin? You could get some samples to try out and see what you like!

I've heard great things about Clarisonic! I personally don't have one, but I know a ton of people love theirs. I have dry skin too, so I have a lot of congestion on my face & random breakouts (especially hormonal). I use Neutrogena Gentle Foaming Cleanser morning & evening, in the mornings I use it with one of these Silicone Face Cleanser Brush from Amazon. In the morning, I also use Neutrogena Alcohol-Free Toner (following the cleanser). In the mornings, I follow the foaming cleanser with Cerave Renewing SA Cleanser (so I double cleanse in the morning - the SA can cause dry skin but it doesn't for me since I only use it a few times a week and the SA really helps with breakouts). I use this Moisturizer every morning, followed by a generic eye cream. It's AMAZING for dry skin. In the evenings after washing, I use Hyaluronic Acid serum all over my face then follow with a moisturizing face cream (I use a thicker one than the one I linked for night time). I try to drink a TON of water everyday, and sleep on a silk pillowcase to help with acne. I've also found not touching my face as much, disinfecting my phone, and washing my hands helps with breakouts. I take a collagen & biotin supplement too. Prior to our wedding, I was getting facials & microneedling & dermaplaning which was all helping a ton with my skin. I usually do a moisturizing face mask about once a month too!

I never wanted to invest the money in a Clarisonic but I found https://www.walmart.com/ip/EcoTools-Facial-Cleansing-Brush/169959637 this similar (non-battery operated) for super cheap at Wal-mart. It works really well and I use 2-3 times a week for a few minutes in the shower.

Also, I cannot recommend vitamin C serum enough!!! I have been using Farmacy brand https://www.farmacybeauty.com/collections/all-products/products/very-cherry-bright-15-vitamin-c-serum for the last few months and the difference in the tone and brightness in my skin is outrageous. Breakouts are almost non-existent. I use this under my moisturizer every morning and 3-4 nights a week. (I use Aveeno moisturizers)

Thank you for your suggestions! I already use that Neutrogena cleanser, a silicone face scrubbed, disinfect my phone every day, and I’m working on upping my water consumption. I will definitely add in the toner, serum, etc.

I used Almay eye pad make-up remover (no oil) to take my eye makeup off. I use Cetaphil soap to wash my face. I have sensitive skin and I don’t put any oil on my face or eyes even though I have dry skin. I use Clinique moisturizer (the yellow one) every morning. Try a mask to get some dry skin removed. I see my dermatologist ever 2 months. If you have insurance, you might go to one.

I can't say enough about the Clinique 3-Step skincare system. Go to Ulta, Sephora or a makeup counter in a department store and they can help you see which system you'd need (oily, dry, combo, etc.). It comes with a cleanser, toner and moisturizer. I used to get random breakouts too but I've been using this for years and my skin cleared up so quickly. They usually have good deals during the holidays too on this. You can get The 3-step system for $50 or a trial set for $20.

Oh, another product I LOVE is witch hazel. It can be used to remove makeup, as a toner, really anything lol. I rub it on my face with a cotton pad and it tightens my pores.
