Reception Timeline?

Jordan, on February 2, 2020 at 7:57 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4

How did you plan and schedule your reception timeline with all the dances, cake cutting, garter & bouquet, send off?

Little lost on what order to do some of it and are you supposed to go back to back with dances and toasts?

Thanks so much!

Our ceremony starts at 5 and ends at 9:30.

Here is the timeline that our coordinator came up with:

2:00 - 4:25: fake getting ready, bridal party and first touch pics

4:30 - 5:00: guest arrive and get seated

    5:00 - 5:30: ceremony

5:30 - 6:15: cocktail hour & bar opens for guest and more pictures

    6:15 - 6:20: bridal party introduced

    6:20: first dance

    6:30: serve dinner

    7:00: father/daughter & mother/son dance. Dance floor opens

7:30: garter and bouquet toss, then more dancing

8:00: toast and cutting of cake. Then more dancing

9:30: send off and fake exit

9:30 - 10:30: gather our things and leave

So this doesn’t show garter/bouquet toss because we may not do that. This is a rough draft of ours! My best suggestion is to do the cake cutting after being introduced so then eyes on you, then go into your first dance.

I did first dance right away so that all eyes were on us already after grand intro. I did the tosses and speeches a little later after everyone has started eating
