Reception hall

Tynasia, on April 11, 2023 at 1:01 PM Posted in Maryland Planning 0 3
Hi everyone and congrats on all the engagements out there. I am trying to find a hall that allows me to do food and decorations on my own. (Asking for the state of Maryland) but more specifically , do you think it would be better to purchase plastic or glass cutlery and plates. I’m just thinking that if I don’t use a catering service and purchase the glass, where would I store it afterwards? And I would probably never use it again. But would the plastic give the Vision I am going for? Thank you!

Consider renting dishware, glasses. They take your containers as is (no washing) at the end of the night. The alternative you discuss is one-time use and is not environmentally friendly, and hard logistically for you to take in/ take out. Good luck finding a "bland slate" venue that allows outside catering.

Blank slate venues that allow outside catering are very easy to find and are in abundance, contrary to popular opinion. The parks department website for “venue rentals” is a great place to start. Also take a look at Eventective.com and Yelp.

Disposable plates and cutlery are better suited for a casual picnic in the park and are not the best quality. Plastic silverware is known to break easily and many disposable plates are not sturdy enough to hold a full meal. Not everyone is on the position where they can or want to store purchases because they don’t regularly entertain 50-100 guests nor do they have the time and energy to resell everything. That is why rentals are so popular and much more economical.
