Reception Dress yay or nay?

Tosha Fay, on October 13, 2019 at 8:41 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

I've been trying to makeup my mind about whether I want a reception dress. I'm getting married in Las Vegas and I definitely want to keep my gown on, but I don't want it ruined. I was thinking a reception dress would solve the problem, but I'm hopeless as far as this goes... Someone please help!!! I'm posting a few examples of what I've looked at.

If I were to go with a reception dress, I would go with the second one.

Nay for me personally, I love my dress and I'm keeping it on as long as possibleSmiley smile
I'm riding my horse to the altar, and I'm not worried about my dress getting messed up. ❤

I plan to keep my dress on as long as possible, however we live in Florida and our venue is outdoors so I’m planning to bring the white dress I will wear to the bridal shower and such just in case I may want to change into it. But if I were to choose one, I would pick the first one. ☺️

The second one is similar to my wedding dress, which is why I was liking this one.

That's the other side of my brain telling me you're paying so much for your wedding gown, so keep it on!

I love the first one because Vegas in April isn't too hot, but I want to be comfortable too. We are outdoors as well.

I don’t like the idea of changing dresses, personally. You only get to wear it once and I want to wear mine as long as I can. I completely understand not wanting to ruin your dress though! Have you thought about having an over skirt? That way you could still have two looks but in one dress? Wear the over skirt for the ceremony and then take it off to reveal another look after?

That is a brilliant idea! I had not even come close to thinking of a solution like that. It's perfect and it would go perfectly with my gown. Thank you so very much!

I would choose one dress to wear the whole day! The second and fifth ones would be my pick!

I may change into a more out and about friendly dress after the wedding/ reception because we are in Vegas. Only plan to spend <$100. Love that short long and lace. Where is that one from?

That one I tried on at a local bridal store. I'll have to check who the designer is.

My responsible brain can't justify the cost of buying 2 dresses. If I'm spending the amount I'm spending on my dress and I'm so in love with it, I'm keeping it on as long as possible...I may figure out how to wear it to work. 😂😂

However, that's totally up to you. I will say i tried on the 3rd dress you have pictured and while it's beautiful and fun, i thought it was really heavy...

I bought a reception dress but never changed because I wanted to keep my dress on all night. If I had to choose from the ones you posted I love the first one.

I personally think a reception dress should have a different vibe than your wedding dress. I don't see the point in wearing two dresses if they are the super similar. I think a reception dress should be comfortable and easy to sit down and dance in - comfortable, stretchy material (nothing itchy or scratchy), with no train or a smaller train, and that you can wear undergarments with that are comfortable and/or supportive, depending on how much support you need. We went to a wedding where the bride's second outfit was a stunning backless white jumpsuit - it was perfect for her (she's smaller chested and didn't need a bra or shapewear) and hit all the marks.
