I agree with PP. I may think that $2k is nothing and that could be someone else's budget. My parents surprised me and purchased my dress for me, but it was just over 1k. But I went in with the mindset that I would not spend more than 1,500.

It depends on what you are looking for. Certain fabrics, embellishments and the designer all affect the price of the dress. I paid $2500 for my maggie sottero dress and veil.

Pretty much whatever you're willing to spend. You can find used dresses (or possibly previously owned dresses that are new with tags) online for $100, or you can find white dresses on Amazon, or you can buy a white bridesmaids dress for way cheaper than a wedding dress. You can also find new dresses for $400-$800 at some stores. If you go to a local bridal salon, many of their dresses are $900+ (price possibly depending on the area you live in). If you've seen Say Yes To The Dress, some people spend $10,000+ on a dress, while others spend less than $1,000. There's no right/wrong answer, it's totally up to you and your budget and what you're willing to spend.

Depends on your budget. Many of my friends/family either borrowed dresses from other friends/family or they spent up to $2,000 for a wedding gown and accessories.

Its up to you i had a budget 1000 im older and my fiance said you take care of the family never treat yourself so for this one day get what you love. That love was 1900 and i went to a store where the max dresses were 3000. Know where you are shopping and stick to your budget. I put myself on 2000 and in NYC thats a steal

Agreed it's whatever you feel good about, although it does help to be informed about what kind of style, fabric, silhouette etc, you like! I went into the process knowing nothing, and feeling frustrated that I couldn't find anything that matched what I envisioned in my head. Then I realized (after buying a dress I settled for, thinking it was good enough- I don't recommend!), that the reason I couldn't find the dress I wanted is because it was rather unique, not in high demand, not white, less traditional and more editorial, etc., and wasn't going to the right stores and didn't have the right budget. I ultimately splurged on something I LOVE and have always dreamed about wearing so have no regrets, but wouldn't have found it on my initial search until I knew where to look and what to ask for.

My budget was $1500, but I knew I didn’t want crazy embellishments, lace, sparkles, etc., so that took the price down.

It's personal in regards to how much you are willing/wanting to pay. I ended up buying my dress online on Stillwhite because I couldn't find anything in store that I really loved or loved but for some reason was second guessing. Whether curious or you end up running into that problem, check out the site. Just make sure you've already tried on different styles and know which one(s) you love.

Stillwhite has a wide range of prices and gorgeous dresses. They're all pre-owned but some never even worn. I got my dress (unworn/tag still attached) for $1,200 when it retailed between $3k and $4k! You also communicate directly with the seller and I got my dress within the week after purchasing.

The terms “reasonable“ and “expensive will always be subjective. So the amount will be very personal based on what you can/want to spend.

If you’re looking at $1K or less, look at shops that carry Allure or Moonlight Bridal. BHLDN and David’s Bridals are good shop options too.

Most bridal shops will carry dresses $2K+.

I spent 364 for mine. Got it 50% off on black Friday. Perfect time to catch a sale.

You will get so many different answers here from free to thousands of dollars. A lot depends where you look and the quality you're after. David's bridal has options starting at like $99 and other bridal salons only start pricing at $1200.

The dress hunt is one area I kind of failed when planning my wedding so I'll share my cautionary tale.

1) Don't skimp on budget too much

I spent SO SO long looking for a dress trying to save money. I was shooting for under $500. Long story short, I spent more money than I would have on a new dress because I had dress regret MULTIPLE times.

In total I paid for FOUR dresses - purchased either secondhand in good condition or new but on-sale/not returnable. All are in consignment right now - a slow way to make money back.

2) Budget for alterations

The one I ended up picking was $400 from Adina's bridal, plus $340 for pretty simple alterations (hem, bring in sides of bodice). The other contender was a $500 dress that needed like $800 of alterations due to beading and more layers. That took it out of contention pretty quick.

Average price begins around $1500 after alterations looking at $2k - For me personally, I would rather spend 1/4 of that on my dress and use the rest towards honeymoon, house new car
