RCI timeshare for Honeymoon? Need Help Ladies!

Molly, on February 22, 2012 at 5:33 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 7

My Aunt has decided to give us a week with her RCI timeshare points to use as a honeymoon. While I think this is really nice, I'm also a little nervous that we're not going to find a place that's worthy of a "luxurious" honeymoon like I want. We are on a budget and this would allow for us to have a longer honeymoon, but I'm worried about the quality!

Has anyone used RCI timeshares before...or have any advice about booking a honeymoon? We're looking for a scuba/beach/spa inspired place to spend a romantic week next winter! Help!

RCI has great places all over the world to choose from! I dont see why you couldn't find a nice place to stay. I am a Wyndham timeshare owner and while some of the places are nice but idk if "luxurious" as I would also have liked. I decided to use our points from our timeshare that we pay $400 monthly for. On a budget....so it works.

Hi Molly aka Date Budy! I am being gifted an RCI timeshare week from my parents for our honeymoon, and RCI has some gorgeous locations and the accomodations are stunning (been to Aruba, PR, and St. Thomas). I don't think you have anything to fear. Just do your homework about the destination that you are looking into and the resort before you book to make sure that they offer what you are looking for. Good luck planning!

We stayed at FH's boss's RCI timeshare in Cabo San Lucas a few years ago. I didn't love the town of Cabo, but the resort itself was pretty sweet. I would book lickety split though. I think a lot of the best timeshare properties are booked pretty far in advance. At least that's what my friends with timeshares say.

Do they have an online guide where you can pick the place you want to stay and do virtual tours?

Also- will you have to sit through a presentation? FH's boss gifted us her timeshare time, but b/c we weren't the owners we had to sit through an afternoon of people trying to sell us on a timeshare. I think it was a term of their ownership. I would just double check that. We knew we had to do it so we were ready, but it was still a kind of annoying afternoon. Smiley smile

We own RCI timeshares in Sarasota Florida, which is where I'm getting married. The beachest are the whitest, but you won't find scuba... I would take the deal though! There are lots of choices to go to. Ask your aunt if she can give you her RCI log-in so you can browse all the places available for you.

Bad part though -- your honeymoon week might be completely booked in the RCI system If you wanted the July 1 - July 7 week. We usually book our extra units 10-months in advance for July 4th week.

I own a timeshare with Wyndham and deposit my points into RCI all the time. Resorts are so much better than most hotels. ALL of the Wyndham resorts I have stayed in have been the BEST.

You wont have to sit through a presentation because she is an owner already and you are going for just a vacation.

PM me with a location that you are considering and I will look it up and let you know if I have been or my opinion. Or I can help you find one in a certain area if you like.

I have a timeshare with RCI (funny you mentioned it....I just came off of their website) and some of the locations are absolutely stunning and some are just down right dirty. Read the reviews on the website. Also, you have to book early because a lot of times, you can't stay when you want. That was my biggest problem with them. Paying monthly on time and when I was ready to book, nothing was available. I have a Hawaii honeymoon booked through them and the resort is 4 stars. I'm extremely excited.

We are using and RCI timeshare for our honeymoon gifted from my grandma. We were originally going to Secrets of St. James Montego May Jamaica and we had it booked. We got a letter in the mail stating that the resort is an all inclusive and we had to pay for the all inclusive part which would be $3200.00. We changed our resort to a place in the Grand Bahamas that is not an all inclusive. Besides that we haven't had a problem with them. My grandma has had it for years. Although my dad says its starting to get harder to trade.
