Punta Cana or St Lucia

I was looking into Punta Cana, but I heard there isn't that much to do off of the resort.

That may be something to consider.

I've been to Punta Cana twice for vacation and although nice I wouldn't say personally I want my honeymoon there. It doesn't have the atmosphere of honeymoon. And the service isn't the greatest (but I guess this depends on resort as well). But my FSIL went to Sandals Grande St Lucia for her honeymoon and had an amazing time. She says she would do it all over again without changing a thing. And I know others who went to St Lucia for their honeymoons and all have raved about it. I've never been myself though.

We haven't done St Lucia because the flights for us are not direct.

We have done Punta Cana three times and I love it there. There is lots to do off resort tour wise. I am not sure about the resort but have stayed at a secrets in Mexico and a sandals in Jamaica and would do secrets over sandals any day of the week. I find sandals overpriced and over hyped.

Although the pics of the grande are stunning!

We booked at the cap cana! I can't wait! I wanted all inclusive and st. Lucia doesn't really have that and if it does you pay a lot more for it! I've had 2 friends go to Cap Cana already and they told me I would not be disappointed and had me actually switch my room to a swim out! There's tons of excursions which is what we want rather then roaming around the town. But I've also had a close friend go to St. Lucia and she loved it but said you pay for it! Happy planning!!

I know you already narrowed down the resorts, but I think Punta Cana/Dominican have a ton more options for resorts. Look into adults only and take with a travel agent (they are not more, at least the one I am using). take with them about options, tours, travel, and all that good stuff.

I've been to St. Lucia for a mission trip and there's obviously a ton of honeymooners that go. I would not recommend it. If you're just trying to stay at a resort the whole time, then that's fine. But outside of the resort, it's a very poor country. If you do go to St. Lucia, I would recommend venturing outside and see what the culture is all about. Aside from the beach, it's not really that pretty. I say St. Lucia would be overrated for a vacation.

St. Lucia is amazing. The Pitons are gorgeous and the people are so nice and fun. I don't know what this person is talking about it's not that pretty. I think the views are spectacular. The food is great and it's safe to walk around at night (at least that's what we were told and did and were fine). They have plenty of all inclusive resorts but the restaurants outside of them are awesome! I got engaged in St. Lucia so it's special to me, I highly recommend it!

We are doing St Lucia. It's a lot more romantic and beautiful of a spot than Punta Cana if you ask me. PC is like Cancun, people go there to party and it's a fairly standard trip. They have some nice resorts -- and a whole lot of mediocre to poor ones. Each time I've been there I've gotten hassled on the beach or ripped off by sales people and staff alike. We wanted something special and luxurious for our honeymoon so we're doing Sandals Grande St Lucia.

I prefer Secrets over Sandals, but ultimately I think it comes down to what you want out of the trip. Punta Cana resorts are basically just off on their own without a lot of other off-property things to see or do. St Lucia will have more places to visit aside from the resort. So in my opinion you should choose Punta Cana if you mostly just want to chill at the hotel and St Lucia if you want to get out and experience the local culture.
