Puerto Rico Honeymoon Post Hurricane

S Kab, on March 16, 2020 at 2:40 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 2
Has anyone recently been to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria (2017)? FH and I are considering Puerto Rico for our honeymoon in September or October but I don’t want to fall in love with the pretty Resort photos online. Looking for recent honeymooners who can tell me if most of San Juan (or Culebra area) is in good shape/rebuilt to attract tourists. We also considered USVI but my cousin works there and told me some areas in St Thomas are still under re-construction.

I live in PR for almost 4 years for grad school and was there as recently as 9 months ago for graduation and most of the island has recovered from the hurricane including culebra. Although with the current covid19 situation going on, I'm not sure how the island will be affected. I'm also concern about the time you are considering visiting since that is peak hurricane season.

Thanks for your input. I heard that September/October is still within hurricane season in the Caribbean. We prefer a ‘tropical’ mini moon (3 days). Florida beaches have the same risk during that time. We are in VA and not looking to travel too far (California or Hawaii). I will check other posts for mini-moon ideas nearby.
