Processionals!

Rosie, on November 8, 2021 at 6:21 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 1 32

I have been thinking for quite some time about what song I want to walk down the aisle to. With our postponement, I've had extra time to think about details that I wasn't super settled on before, and as a result, I've un-decided about my aisle song, and am still on the hunt.

Maybe you chose to go with a song that was relevant to your relationship, irrespective of how appropriate it was for the occasion - for example, one of my friends walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of 'we found love in a hopeless place' when they met at work, and had invited coworkers to the wedding, LOL.

My ideal song would be something with lyrics that are cute (or relevant to us), that people recognise, but maybe not your first thought for a wedding song. Like... an instrumental version of REO speedwagon's keep on loving you (I haven't found one on spotify though!)

I also really liked the idea of having 'la vie en rose' because my name is Rosie and I LOVE pink, but the thing is... I don't think most people will pick up on the joke - even if they recognise the song they probably won't know the name, and if they DO know the name, they won't know the translated meaning. Which makes me think that's not a great idea.

So! How did you pick your song? Did you care if it was appropriate? Did you find a softer version somewhere or go with the original? Did it have lyrics or was it instrumental?

I'm aware, too, that it's a silly thing to think so hard about - I've heard so many stories where whatever you chose to walk down the aisle to didn't even end up being played for whatever reason, but still. Here we are.

We chose Simply the Best- Noah Reid. It's a cover of Tina Turners version and just really fit with our relationship, how we met, and the dating drama in the first few months. Haha

I walked to Iz's "Over the Rainbow" - mostly because I thought it was beautiful.

Aww, that's a beautiful song. Apparently he did it in one take at about 1:30 in the morning! Amazing talent.

Super amazing talent. I had the coordinator start the music so I would walk out when he started the "ooh ooh" vocalizing at the beginning. I think it worked well - H was so emotional he doesn't even remember what was playing lol (those are seriously some of my favorite wedding photos - him crying as he watched me walk).

So funny, OP. My best friend ended up getting married on her original COVID-impacted date and had planned on having a “real” celebration with her original dress a year later. So she replaced her original processional song with La Vie En Rose. She ended up getting pregnant and canceling the vow renewal so she never got to use that original song, so La Vie En Rose it is!
Somewhere around 24, when I was dating someone that is not my now-husband, I was in a heavy Simon and Garfunkel phase and decided the steel guitar solo in The Boxer was among the prettiest music I’d ever heard in my life and wanted to walk down the aisle to it.
Five years and a new man later, I decided to keep the music I had decided on.

Awww, how sweet! I'd have been a blubbering mess! I'm thinking I'll have to be careful not to choose something too emotional, or I'll just be a puddle on the floor!

If you can't be a puddle on your wedding day, when can you be? Just talk to your make up artist about making things as waterproof as possible (I *knew* I would be in tears multiple times, so this was one of our first discussions).

You absolutely cannot go wrong though, whatever you pick will be meaningful and beautiful - which I guess is the problem. Very much looking forward to seeing your BAM post Smiley smile

Haha, your poor best friend! But, it's a lovely song.

And I went and listened to the boxer, and of course I know that song now I heard it. I like your backstory - sometimes you just fall in love with a song or even just a piece of it, and where better to play it than to walk to marry the love of your life?

Aww, thank you! That's very true! At the moment my top two choices are

    Van Morrison's Crazy Love

and a string quartet version of McFly's All About You

If I may humbly suggest - find a quiet place, close your eyes, and play each song while you imagine walking down the aisle. See which you can see yourself wearing your beautiful dress and walking to your FH to.

Oh that's a lovely idea. I might sneak into our spare room later, put my shoes on and walk up and down playing a few of my options Smiley smile

I’ve chosen Vivaldi’s largo from Winter. FH and I love classical music and it’s really special to me. Just go with what your heart tells you!

I am going to walk down the aisle to For Once in My Life by JJ Heller (originally by Stevie Wonder). My fiancé and I have both been married before and throughout our lives, we never felt like we “fit” with anyone until we met each other. He is my once in a lifetime love. I feel like I can face anything with him by my side. I listened to this song while walking my dog and I instantly started crying. I knew that was the one.

I feel the exact same way. I want something a little different but still want it to be relevant. Still haven't decided on anything.

Our Bridal Party is walking down to a Piano Version of a pop punk song by a band we like, it's our way of sneaking some of our pop punk side into our wedding without completely ruining it for our family lol.

I was going to walk down to a Piano Version of "love her" by the jonas brother's cause I'm a huge Jonas Brothers fan and I love the lyrics and think they fit us. I recently decided to change it to Cannon in D as a way to sneak a little Christmas into my Labor Day weekend wedding.

I've been married before and chose songs that I liked the lyrics too. We did an orchestra version of a song for the bridesmaids, groomsman, ring bearer, and flower girl part and then when it was my turn we had a live singer sing an acoustic version of a different song.

Oh beautiful. I had to look it up - I was originally imagining the first part of the winter suite, and was like, DAMN, very dramatic, haha!
