Price for a decorator

Chelsea, on June 3, 2021 at 12:02 PM Posted in Ohio Planning 0 4

Hi,

I have just a blank hall with chairs and tables. I hired a decorator and outside of the cost for the lights, napkins and linens she wants $900 for set up and tear down. Seems alot to me in Toledo, OH.

Does this seem right?

I'm in Maryland and my decorator is only charging me $1000 which includes the linens, set up & clean up, and decorations. That does seem like a bit much ON TOP of the costs for the other thing but I guess it can depend on the area and their popularity.

Are you hiring someone to decorate only or be day of coordinator? A day of coordinator decorates as part of their job description and also makes sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes so your guests don’t have to work. A coordinator employed by the venue doesn’t do this. They only make sure you are following venue policy and they turn the lights on and open doors for you and your vendors.

Price depends on your location and this is an international forum so you need to get price quotes where you live.

I hired her team so its $700 for one girl to do the cordinator and than $900 for the decorator to set up and tear down. Shes saying for all my decor itll be a tad over 1K for table cloths, napkins, lighting.

So $700 plus $900 equals $1600 for the coordinator team. $1k for rentals. It could be reasonable. Without any clue as to the going rate for your area. It’s sketchy though that each part of the team costs extra as if they are itemized instead of a bundle price. Ala carte pricing might be that way but usually if you hire a team it is one price for everyone working.

Or I could be off and the coordination aspect costs $x and the decor aspect costs $y. Either way, you should be able to get bundle pricing.
