Postponing the party?

Hoping for some input from those in a similar boat: my fiancé and I are supposed to get married October 3rd. Our venue has a huge 400 person capacity, so depending on what phase we are in, we could possibly fit our large (around 200 people) guest list. But at what cost? Is it selfish asking these people to come? Especially when they can't dance, mingle, must wear masks at all times? The vendors having to put themselves at risk, especially if someone gets belligerent about the mask policy? I'm still trying to make the right call, and it's hard, especially with invites already out.

If we do decide to postpone the party to next year and get married now, I am wondering: do you wear your wedding dress to the party a year later? Is that tacky? It would just suck to spend money on dress and alterations and not get to show it off. Is it weird to have a party after you've already been married a year? Let me hear your thoughts!
