Postponed my June Wedding to July in Indiana

Jennifer, on May 13, 2020 at 9:06 AM Posted in Indiana Planning 0 9
So our original date was in June 6th 2020. But because of covid we had to postpone it to July 4th 2020. I live in Indiana and they are slowly opening up the state, we are currently in Stage 3. By June 23rd everything is so be semi back to normal. My scare is any possible extension causing me to change everything AGAIN.. any newly potential July brides out there going through the same thing??

How many people are you having? I think the risk of having to push it back again is huge.

I think 50 people is not a lot so that should help. Your state is pretty early in opening, mine just barely entered Phase 1.
I would say that only time will tell really. Re-opening could mean an increase in cases so they might have to have more restrictions later until cases decrease again.
Or it won’t be a big increase at all and restrictions will stay lifted. It’s really hard to know at this point.

I'd say your guest count is good... I'm in Wisconsin and we haven't even started Phase 1 yet, although I think we are close. Our venue finally reached out to us for our July 25th date and is offering to set up a Plan B for us. I think it is just hard to know what the future holds - it doesn't seem that we have any examples of what a typically size wedding looks like in this "new normal".. I think July brides will probably be the first ones to dip their toes in the water and have weddings. I desperately want to keep my date and think it is possible it will be "legal" to have my wedding, but I am worried about what my wedding will be like - will people be afraid to hug, dance, talk to one another?

    Hi Jennifer,

This is definitely a crazy stressful and uncertain time for everyone! It seems like a lot of July brides are waiting a few more weeks before making postponement decisions, but everyone's situation is different and it never hurts to be proactive about plan b!

Here's a discussion specifically about July 2020 Weddings!

First things first, I recommend that you call or email your venue and see how they're handling July events. Things are changing daily, so keeping the lines of communication open is important. That way, you can make decisions in a timely fashion.

    Good luck! akxoU0fWxdmfE9sHUjjkYB-ICl1lHJDh_sCPQOky

I’m based in Elkhart county. I’m feeling good about it but I do have family members that are nervous and will probably even show up with a mask to our wedding. But we are just praying that we dont have to reschedule but are nervous at the fact that the number of cases are only going up

I’m in downtown Indy, but have until Oct 2. I would assume folks will be wearing masks too. While yes, the numbers are growing, and I do expect to see a higher spike in about 2 weeks, I would say to watch culture over numbers right now. Are folks going to stores while practicing social distancing- I am optimist for you! Sending all the good vibes!!
