Positano or Sorrento?

Estela, on January 2, 2020 at 9:31 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11
Hello everyone! Positano vs Sorrento?
We are going to Italy for our honeymoon, but we don’t know what’s the best town to stay. We are gonna start 4 nights in the Amalfi Coast then travel to Cinque Terra.
What’s best to stay? Any advice?

I love Positano. We were there this past summer and had a great time. The scenery is beautiful day and night. There are a lot if cute boutiques with things that you won't find other places. The food is also amazing, a lot of fresh seafood. There is plenty to see; I recommend going to Capri for a day. We did go to Sorrento for a day, by bus, it took about 45 minutes. I hope this helped. Happy planning.Positano or Sorrento? 1

I haven’t been to Sorrento but I did spend a week on Positano a few years ago and it’s my absolute favorite place in the world. The views are incredible, the food was delicious, and there was plenty to do. Definitely look into a day trip to Capri and doing the Path of the Gods hike!

I think Positano is more of a beach city whereas Sorrento is more of a port city. Do you want to lay by the sea and relax (Positano)? Or do you want to explore a larger city (Sorrento)?

I’ve heard really lovely things about Sorrento and if we did Amalfi area again we’d love to go see it. You can take the bus or ferry from Sorrento (or from Positano) down the Amalfi coast, weather permitting. If it’s too windy, the ferries won’t go (this is why we didn’t get to see Capri) and if you go in the off season there are very few busses shuttling between Amalfi Coast towns. If you go in high season you’ll be packed like sardines on the busses/ferries. We stayed in Praiano in October and took the bus or a taxi to Positano and Amalfi. It was really nice, but definitely more of a relaxing/lounging vacation than a trip into a bustling city.

Hi Rachel, thank you! That helps a lot, we are planning right after our wedding, end of June, weather won’t be a problem I hope. Looking forward to the Amalfi Coast!
