Plastic chargers, tacky?

Karla, on September 24, 2022 at 5:28 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 5

Hello,

I've been looking into acrylic/ plastic charger plates because glass ones are ridiculously expensive. Unfortunately our catering does not offer the color I'm looking for either so that's not an option. I found these chargers for a good price, however they are plastic, now I'm wondering if they look tacky?

Unless you have really picky guests, the plastic chargers would be a nice option to go with your color scheme. They should primarily notice the dishware anyhow.

Since chargers don't perform a function and are just there for looks, I do think it would be better not to have any at all, rather than use plastic ones, assuming the rest of your table setting is "real" (i.e., not disposable).

Now, it's true that your guests might not notice, but simpler is usually better when it comes to decor anyway, so just save yourself the expense and don't have any chargers.

I would agree with Maggie- plastic chargers are an added cost and if not great quality, they can look tacky. I would think about your event formality! If the event can go without them, I’d recommend forgoing plastic ones.
That being said, we’re personally having a fairly formal event and it would be odd to not have them. We ended up finding 110 silver chargers on Amazon through a third party seller for a decent price and good quality. Much of our accents are silver metal/mercury glass so these fit with our theme Plastic chargers, tacky? 2

I advise against white-- if light reflects on white plastic, it doesn't give a premium vibe. Good luck!
