As the pp’s mentioned, your budget is super important to know before you start planning your wedding. You should also think about an estimated guest count so that you know what size and style venue you are looking for. As you can imagine, a large guest count means a bigger venue, more spent on catering, drinks, rentals and favors so be sure to keep your guest count in line with your budget!

Budget will always be the most important part of your planning. I'd start there, then go to a guest list (rough draft) and then work to find a venue that works with your budget and guest count. Happy planning!

I'll echo budget, guest list and time of year. This far out I wouldn't look at too many venues or be thinking of those kinds of things yet. I would focus on saving money over the next year and then start planning with venue tours when you are 1.5-1 year out from your wedding date. I know many venue's will not book less than 18 months out from a proposed date and that also goes along with several other vendors as well. Save up enough to pay off at least a few vendors in cash up front and that will help off set the piling wedding costs as the day approaches. Good luck and Happy Planning!
