How exciting! What I would start with is:

1. Decide how many people you want to invite, ballpark estimate is fine.

2. Decide how much you want to spend.

3. Research wedding venues and tour your top choices.

4. Book the venue.

5. Book the photographer.

I'm sorry to hear about your family. My father has also passed and won't be able to give me away either. It definitely makes the day a bit bittersweet.

Congratulations- a vegas wedding?! How fun! The number one thing the fiance and I did was figure out a realistic budget. Once we did that we were able to start booking vendors. I feel that figuring out your budget first is a major first step. Everything else seemed to fall into place after that!
