Place Card Displays

SLY, on June 4, 2021 at 10:52 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 8

Hello everyone!

For those that are having/have had place cards at their wedding, how are they/were they displayed? My idea is to have the guests take their photo with a polaroid camera and write a note on small cards, then replace their escort card with it. (after the wedding I plan on putting all of these in a book!) I just like the idea of having guests see everyone's photos up together instead of in a book at the wedding.

Just trying to see if it would be easier to have them on a table with holders, or have then pinned on string attached to a vintage frame or something of that nature. Also, if you were a guest, would you rather replace your card with your photo, or just go ahead and put it in the book?

TIA! Smiley shame

That's a cute idea, to have their escort card replaced with their picture! I was planning on having guests put their photos directly in our guest book (so that if they wanted to write messages that wouldn't fit on the edges of the picture, they can write those in the book). Someone else had also suggested having a basket for everyone to put their photos in, but if you prefer to have them all displayed, I think either pinning the photos on a clothesline or replacing the escort cards with the photos would both be super cute!

Thanks Lisa!! I have this idea in my head and just wanted some validation on whether it seemed logical or not haha! If I end up doing them pinned up, I'll have mini notecards for them to write a note to us on that they can pin with their photo as well.

I just liked the idea of everyone being able to walk in and see the other guests' photos, but I also like knowing that after the wedding I have a project to do by putting them in a guest book. I feel like it would be a fun Saturday activity for me and FH to do together.

That's a super cute idea! If anything, I'd just make sure that there's enough materials that multiple people can do it at once, so there's no bottlenecking/guests having to wait awhile to find their card around the cocktail hour/start of dinner time.

Thanks! Yeah I think we're going to do 2-3 frames with the cards attached to string. The polaroid camera and other materials will be on a separate table next to them, so hopefully that helps the flow of traffic! I was thinking of having 2-3 cameras (one of my own, and borrow the other two), several pens and the notecards in 2 piles for people to grab from?

I think it's a super cute idea Smiley smile I definitely agree that it could easily become a logistical issue - is everyone entering the reception from the same door/pathway? Would you maybe be able to set up an A-M "area" and a N-Z "area?"

Personal side note, and this may be really minor/just me, but I'd be kinda bummed to take a cute polaroid of myself all dolled up and not be able to take it home 😂 you could also have a delay with people trying to take phone-photos of their polaroid.

We'll have 2-3 sections so the names would be separated into 2-3 groups alphabetically! I'm just not sure if we should have this set up when guests first arrive so they can get this done before the ceremony, or have them set up outside beside the entrance to cocktail hour and have everyone get their place card and take photos on their way to cocktail hour. Our ceremony is outside down a paved pathway, so logistically I'm not sure what would work best!

I also should have mentioned that we'll have a sign requesting guests only take two photos. One for us, and one for them to keep! So there will def. be enough film for everyone to take a photo home with them! Smiley shame

My venue has a table in the front where they usually put place cards. We plan to do small origami cranes, so they will stand up on their own:
