How important is/was photography for your wedding? Did you make it a top priority?

I just found out my DREAM photographer is available and willing to travel to shoot our courthouse ceremony this Fall, and I am over the moon with excitement! This has gotten me in the mood to look at wedding photos! I'd love to see everyone's favorite wedding (or engagement) photos!! Please drop your faves in the comments!

That’s awesome! It sounds like your wedding take 2 is coming along very nicely!!

As to your question, photography really felt like an obligation to me. Like I kept seeing articles and posts about how it’s so important, and I was like I’m sure it’ll matter after the wedding, but I just can’t prioritize this. I also felt like a lot of the the pictures looked similar and fine, so I was just looking for the cheapest option. Then I suddenly came across the team I ended up booking and instantly fell in love lol. Thank goodness I saw the light!

That’s awesome! and I completely agree, I think a lot of wedding photos tend to start looking the same, so it can be hard to prioritize spending that much money on something that doesn’t seem that unique. But when you find that perfect photographer who seems to really understand the exact vibe you are going for, it’s a whole different story! It sounds like you found your perfect photographer match! I hope your photos turn out beautiful and you come back and share them!

That's great! Photography is a priority for us. We love looking at photo albums and know that we'll look at our photos in years to come, so we wanted the best photographer we could get. We're not doing an engagement shoot though, so I don't have photos to share.

Photography was a top, top priority for me. Other than the memories that's the one thing you will have forever.

Photographs are framed memories, and a wedding is an unforgettable event in one's life. Glad you got the best photographer.

I think a lot of couples are prioritizing photography more these days. Tbh, it wasn't a top priority for me at our DW. I knew I wanted good photos to remember the day, but I also didn't want to break the bank on it. So I hired an established photographer whose work was consistent (to be sure we would get quality photos), but wasn't necessarily someone whose work was my "vibe" or really wow'ed me. And when we got our photos back... that's exactly what we got LOL Good quality photos that I liked, but I wasn't wow'ed by. So I'm really glad we are getting another crack at this wedding thing! Photos are going to be a much higher priority this time around!

I've noticed a lot of us that have been around WW for awhile are getting married this Fall. I can't wait to hear about everyone's big days and see their photos!!

So true! When we had our DW, my top priorities all revolved around our guests and creating fun experiences for us all while we were there. And while it was a blast, I do wish I had prioritized photography and videography more. I didn't even take any pictures with my phone the whole time! I'm super grateful we get a second shot at this. Hopefully we end up with photos we love

Low priority, lol. I do like our wedding pictures, because I look so freakin’ happy, but neither my husband nor I are big picture people and we both generally don’t like pictures of ourselves. So we figured “have to have them, and want nice ones, but don’t want them taking over our day” — I’ve been to some weddings where the couple spent more time on pictures than getting to enjoy their wedding and that was so not the experience I wanted. We ended up seeking out a photographer just for ceremony pictures and portraits and skipping the reception. We ended up adding on “getting ready” photos and I am glad we did as they’re all candids capturing happy excited lead up moments and they’re my favorite ones!

TOP #2 priority for me!! (Food was number one) I had a husband/wife team and omg I just can't get over all the shots they captured. We didn't look stiff or awkward in any of them. I cherish each and every picture - but these are my favorites.

Photographer was definitely a huge priority for me! It’s the only thing you really can look back on for ur day. I found my photographer at a bridal show and made it a must to have him at my wedding. Photography 6

Omg I completely understand about the pictures taking over the day thing! I've been to multiple weddings (especially over the past few years) where the day feels like a huge elaborate photoshoot, and the wedding is just an afterthought! It was definitely a huge influence on what we didn't want for our wedding! I was SO clear with our photographer that we didn't want a bunch of posed/staged photos. We wanted to capture authentic memories... not create pretend ones. I'm glad you got some photos that captured authentic moments of happiness during your big day! I know you don't like looking at photos of yourselves right now, but I bet 10, 20, 50 years down the road, you're going to love them!

When we had our phone interview with our photographer there were 2 points I emphasized - don't make us look overly posed, and don't take up my whole damn day. LOLOL I think it was easier for me because I was an older bride doing it for the 3rd time , so there were no parents or grandparents to please photo-wise. I didn't have a huge wedding party, and felt "getting ready" photos would be well covered by my sister and my beast friend. (they did great) I ALSO think having a 'first look' is crucial , not only for that "moment" but also to get as much of the pictures done as possible. Getting a husband/wife team was a bonus - what one didn't get the other did (the spontaneous moments especially) Anyway, good communication is crucial with your photographer so they know what YOUR vision is and they can fulfill it.
