Pet Friendly Honeymoon?

Juliana, on October 21, 2010 at 1:21 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 14

Anyone have any good ideas, not to spendy, on a pet friendly honeymoon?

I live in Minnesota and would like to leave the state for the honeymoon but I don’t want to go anywhere without my baby, she is a big dog, 83lbs so she does take up some space. I wouldn’t have any fun going somewhere without her, missing her and worrying about her. Also I don’t trust anyone to watch her because I have heard horror stories about people going on vacation and having someone watch them and when they get back the dog has all these new behavior problems, and she is very attached to me so I think if I disappeared she would feel abandoned.

Any suggestions?

A road trip where you stay at the pet friendly hotels? What are you going to do for activites that don't allow animals?

I know that many hotels allow pets BUT you would have to pay for pet fee. I don't recommend to fly the dog in cargo in plane, it is like treating a dog as a luggage :-/. BUT if you want to fly with pet, go to http://www.petairways.com/ I don't think it has one in Minn that you could rent a car and drive up to the closest city for dog to fly. But only in USA but it is growing Smiley smile It is pets only airfare Smiley smile

California is SUPER dog friendly! Might be a long trip to get here, but dogs are welcome all over. Especially in wine country!

Friends of my FS went to a place on the coast of NC and brought their golden retriever. They stayed right on the beach and their dog loved playing in the sand. They couple had a fantastic time too:-) I don't remember the name of the place, but I can find out if you are interested.

Dogs in grogery stores thats awesome!

Driving would be fine as long as it wasn't too far.

A pet friendly place on the beach would be awesome!

You could definitely find a pet-friendly house or condo to rent on the beach, but make sure the beach you pick is pet-friendly as well!! Unfortunately not all are...

I NEVER leave home without our two dogs, and they don't sit in the truck while we're gone either...they go grocery shopping, to restaurants, movie theaters, ball games....literally EVERYPLACE.

The very few occasions I have gone without them, I felt lost, confused and naked!! And they have gone to nearly every wedding my husband has officiated at. Of course both dogs are service dogs, and are our ears since we are both somewhat hearing impaired and hubby's dog lets him know when his sugar is out of whack. Bearbear wears a tie to weddings and Munchkin has a variety of dresses ranging from pink ruffles to black velvet. They are well dressed for weddings!

My wife and I went to Pet Friendly Vacation Rentals in CA on our honeymoon and took our dogs, we had a blast hiking and biking with them.
