Passport Card for Cozumel Mexico Cruise Line.

Stevie, on December 22, 2019 at 8:47 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 5

Does anyone know if a Passport card will work as Identification and proof of residency to be able to enter and exit?

I've been on several cruises before and each time I had my passport and state issued ID. Will you be able to get access to your actual passport before the cruise?? Good luck to you.

My cruise is scheduled for March, I have a “passport card.” But not an actual book. I was just curious if anyone else used that too

The passport card is typically effective for Canada and Mexico, aka the countries Americans have the easiest time getting to as they’re connected to the US. The passport card SHOULD be fine, but if recommend contacting the cruise company you’re going through and asking them. They’ll know what they can and cannot accept for identification purposes, and be able to advise you on what you need.

Double check on this but I’m almost positive the cards are fine if you are leaving from the US and traveling by land or sea. (Driving or cruising into Mexico, Canada, and I believe the Caribbean) If you are flying into Mexico you will need the passport book.

Hi! I'm doing a Cozumel cruise in February and only have a passport card and it will work for this cruise. No need for the passport. We did a cruise to Ensenada last year with just the card and it was fine.

That being said, if something were to happen and you needed to get home in a quick way (i.e. airplane) it wouldn't work for that, because as Jodie said, it is only valid for passage to Mexico if going by land or sea. But if you're not expecting any emergencies, it will work just fine. To be fair, who is ever expecting an emergency? Hope this helps!
