Packer Wedding

Andie, on March 22, 2019 at 2:41 PM Posted in Wisconsin Planning 0 7
Hello,

We are from green bay and are looking at venues around there.
One issue is the Packers schedule could raise the prices of hotels in the area by a significant amount.
Is there a way to predict when future games will be, if it's a home game?
Our date is Nov 7, 2020 ideally...
Thanks!

Hey Andie! Congratulations on your engagement, it’s great to have you in the community!

Unfortunately, there isn’t really a way for anyone to predict when the Packers games will take place. Any suggestions now would be purely guessing and may end up being totally wrong!

My suggestion would be to start viewing and narrowing down venues now. If you don’t know the Packers game schedule, neither does the venue so it shouldn’t be a problem for booking!

Once you have your venue chosen, you could look into organizing a Hotel Block to try to keep hotel prices down for wedding guests.

I was just in a wedding in green bay in December that ended up being a home packer game. Most hotels will not honor the price now for a home game...even for a wedding. We ended up paying 360 a night and they also make you have a 2 night min at majority of the hotels.

Area hotels typically will not do a hotel block during Packer season. You can be a Packer fan anywhere, but typically fans do not plan there weddings during the season, unless it is a bye week. Just a thought to maybe reconsider your date if you afraid of guests not attending due to the game schedule.
Have you considered venturing out of GreenBay to maybe Sheboygan or Manitowoc or even Door County? You have so many beautiful options outside of GB that a venue with nearby hotel may meet your needs as well.

Hi, also a Green Bay bride and I know the struggle! A friend of ours had her wedding during the pre-season, and the Raddison (Oneida Casino) was one of few places that didn't upcharge for a game weekend. I would start asking different places if they don't upcharge if it is a game weekend. Keep traffic and Lambeau photos in mind... those would be difficult for a game weekend as well. We are getting married in January, during the Pro Bowl weekend, so that guarantees no game in Green Bay even if they make it to the Super Bowl! Smiley smile Good luck!

    Congratulations!

I am in Manitowoc, so I have been in the GB area a lot growing up. Not sure what you are looking for in a venue, how many people you plan on having, or if you have a venue picked out by now, but I suggest Sepia Chapel in Green Bay. I am having my wedding at Sepia Chapel in Two Rivers in May 2020 and so far I love working with the owners and the Chapel in Green Bay is really beautiful. My fiance and I had to flip a coin on which Chapel we were going to book! You can have your ceremony and reception there which makes it super convenient. Also, it is over by UWGB more, so you wouldn't have to worry as much about traffic if there was a game that weekend.

My suggestion is try and find a venue that is a little ways away from Lambeau. The hotel prices might go up if it is a home game, but at least you won't have to worry about traffic as much.

    Good Luck!

They usually post the NFL roster and all there games like spring time so that might be cutting it really close! Good news they normally only play on mondays, Sunday’s and a few Thursdays!

My fiancee and I are big Packers fans and we purposely are having our wedding in summer to avoid fighting with Packer season. We are doing July 18, 2020 at Swan Club in De Pere. Keep on mind there's also training camp that starts at the end of July. You have a 50/50 chance, with a possible bye week. Depending on how big your guest list and budget you could have more or less options. Stadium View, Rock Garden, Radisson, Swan Club are all possible venues. Good luck on your search!!
