Outdoor Indiana March Wedding

Cheyenne, on November 4, 2016 at 10:30 PM Posted in Indiana Planning 0 11

My fiancé and I have decided on March 24th 2017. We live in Lafayette Indiana. I am hoping to have the wedding outside. The venue has a beautiful outdoor ceremony spot. However the barn we are having the reception in is heated and cooled and is located at the same venue as the ceremony. So we have a plan B. First question is has anyone worked or been to a March wedding outside in this area? If so, what has your experience been? Last question is what do you think about plan B being everyone sit in their reception spots while leaving an aisle way should we need to have it inside? I have only been to one wedding like this and it seemed very convenient.

I would think it would still be freezing in Indiana at that time of year. Plan B is perfectly fine. We are getting married in a nice barn but having our reception elsewhere however, the barn can be used for both and I saw pictures of exactly what you asked about and I think it looked very nice.

If it's not going to be 60 degrees, then you don't have it outside. Plan B sounds just fine!

I live in Bloomington and March is really a hit or miss. It can be beautiful but it can also be a blizzard. I would plan on your plan B

This last March was almost 70 degrees but like you said its very hit or miss! UH! Only time will tell I guess.... I really wanted late April but the venue considered April peak season which had higher pricing.

We are having ours in Greenwood, IN on April 7th. We also want outside but are fully prepared to be inside because you never know in Indiana.

Southern il here not far from you. I dont think we have broke 45 degrees as a high consistently in march in years. Think indoors! We can have snow in april. Both our venues are inside for this reason. The weather is too unpredictable.

I live 40 mins from Lafayette and it is still pretty chilly outside in March. Mid April is when things tend to warm up. But then again. This is Indiana weather. It can be snowing one second and sunny and 70 the next. Who knows! Definitely make sure you have a Plan B like you said!

Boiler up! From my experience as a student at Purdue in March.... this would be cold torture.

March 24 is my Birthday! And I lived in Indiana for several years. I *think* Lafayette can get some "lake effect snow", which has definitely happened in past Easters.

I think you should plan for indoors... with an outdoor plan B in case you get one of those crazy warm weekends in the middle of the chill that sometimes happens.

I live about a hour away from you. Keep in mind it can and usually does snow in March here. You can start out the week in flip-flops and end it in snow pants.
