Outdoor April Wedding in Colorado

Aundrea, on January 26, 2020 at 9:04 PM Posted in Colorado Planning 0 8
Hello ladies! I have a silly question. We want to get married in April in Colorado and I was looking at outdoor venues. All of them have amazing trees with big green leaves. And then I thought of the fact that it’s possible trees might be completely naked in April. Has anyone had an outdoor Colorado wedding in April, and if so, what did the trees look like?!

There's still a chance of snow in April, and the trees usually haven't started to bud quite yet, so they're either just starting to come to life, or they're still pretty bare.

Thanks, Erin. Colorado is so bipolar I don’t know if I’ll have sun, rain, or snow 😂 But I’m hoping the trees are at least beginning to bud.

Fingers crossed! I have a short video of me cleaning the snow off of my car in April because it was so strange for me to have that be a thing. My wedding may be in July, but it's in the mountains xD So we could also have the same weather issues. Although snow is a fairly minimal chance.

In my experience, it snows & rains a lot in April so I would assume there would be little to no leaves on trees (unless it's a pine tree or a different year round tree) and the grass would still be brown. I don't know what town you're planning in but it usually rains/snows 5+ days in April at least with a low right around freezing. Typically if trees begin to bud in April or May, a late freeze usually kills it off.

Thanks for your input. Snow is what I fear. We are trying to have an off season wedding to stay within our budget but I’m starting to think just waiting until further on in spring will be worth the money...

Further into spring might work, but November tends to still be pretty nice in Colorado too. It was 70 on thanksgiving recently, and a lot of places in Colorado still see it as the off-season.

You for sure will not have leaves in April. There’s a good chance it’ll snow here.
