Out of state marriage

Rebecca, on February 28, 2023 at 7:53 AM Posted in Arkansas Planning 0 1
I’m looking into getting married in Colorado but I live in Arkansas. What do I need to do for it to be legal in Arkansas? Or how do I go about it all?

So a marriage license is not transferable from state to state but a legal marriage in any state is legal across the entire country. So if you’re getting married in Colorado with an officiant or whatever the laws are there, you’ll have to go to the county clerk office in the county you’re getting married in and get a marriage license. I think sometimes you can do it online. You’ll have to look. We got married out of state personally and we happened to be at our venue a few weeks before the wedding so we went to the clerks office in person to get our license. It’s only good for 35 days in Colorado. So from the date you get it you have to get married in 35 days
