Our trip is booked! Washington state, here we come

Gwendolyn, on May 11, 2021 at 11:18 AM Posted in Honeymoon 1 8

Hi everyone! I want to share my excitement that we finally fully replanned and rescheduled our honeymoon. Our wedding was supposed to be last July followed by a 3 week trip to Japan. We've rescheduled the wedding to this July, but we are still unable to go to Japan. So we have 2.5 weeks scheduled in Washington state! We've never been to Pacific Northwest and I cannot get over how beautiful it looks up there.

We are staying in Camano Island, Seattle, Port Angeles, Forks, and back to Seattle. Any *must eat/must do* suggestions? We have a good list now, but I'm always looking for more food/shops/hikes!

That sounds amazing! I've been to Seattle and we had so much fun at Pike Place market, where they throw the fish. Not only for the fish, but they have gorgeous floral arrangements for sale and other fun things to see. So I'd definitely recommend that.

If you're into Twilight...I heard there's a whole Twilight tour in Forks that people love. I personally have been dying to go on it, but we aren't making it out that way for a while unfortunately.

    Sounds like a total blast!

Thank you so much! I'm so excited to go to the market! We were really looking forward to seafood markets in Japan, so it will be great to go to another big one. Good to know about the flowers, I will definitely look into that since we will have space for fresh flowers. Smiley smile

Not much into Twilight, but I'm really looking forward to Forks to get over to the Hoh Rainforest!

Might be a bit out of the way but there are some beautiful hiking spots up north, but who are we kidding there are beautiful hikes everywhere! My family and I have always loved orcas island and it the summer it is just beautiful! In my opinion a hidden gem in the San Juans

I live in Seattle and it is beautiful, especially in the summer! So must dos are Pike Place Market (eat at Pike Place chowder if you like seafood and soup), it's in the market. Watching them throw the fish at the market is always fun. I mean basic Seattle things like the space needle is classic and definitely check out the Chihuly museum if you like art). If you think you might be doing a bunch of touristy stuff there is a city pass with multiple attractions on it that's cheaper! I did that with my mom when she came to visit a few years ago and it saved us a bunch of money. The museum of glass is fun too but that's in Tacoma which is probably a 45 min drive depending on traffic. There's also lots of cool parks in Seattle as well (Discovery is good for hiking, Gas Works is weird and fun). I would also recommend renting kayaks on Lake Union. You can paddle by all the houseboats which is cool and there are multiple places to rent them.

You mentioned the Hoh rainforest and I would second that! It's beautiful. There are a ton of great hikes but I really like the Hall of Mosses. It's short and easy so you can easily combine it with another one but it's fun to see the trees. While you're on the peninsula be sure to check out the ocean beaches and go to Sequim if you want to see lavender farms. They usually have a festival every July but my guess is that's canceled this year due to Covid. Still nice to see if you like that stuff though! I'm happy to answer any questions you have so feel free to PM me if you want. I hope you have an amazing time on your honeymoon!!

Yes! I've been trying to decide if we should go to Orcas or San Juan island - I would prefer to not bring our car across. I see that San Juan has a trolley to take you to all of the spots - is it easy to get around Orcas without a car?

Thank you!! I think we are going to look into the city pass - I definitely wanted to hit almost all of the places it covers. I've heard about Gas Works, we may check that out! I'll also keep the kayaks on Lake Union in mind (if I haven't worn my husband out by then LOL).

I have the Hall of Mosses and the Hoh River Trail to Mineral Creek on the list. I'm so excited to do the hikes there. I do have a few questions so I will take you up on that PM offer, thank you so much!

One of my favorite places in WA is staying at the Quileute Oceanside Resort (right outside of Forks). It’s right on the beach and no WiFi/phone which is a nice break for those of us (me) who are addicted to their phones. They’ve been closed due to Covid but hope they’ll be opening soon. Splurge for one of the fancier rooms with the whirlpool tub with a view of the ocean! Another romantic place to stop on the Olympic Penisula is the Lake Crescent Lodge, either overnight or just for lunch!
