Our Officiant

MaryElena, on December 7, 2019 at 4:10 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 3
Interfaith marriage. FH is Baptist, I’m Catholic. We have decided not to marry in the Church due to hypocritical practices. His pastor is nondenominational and would be delighted to participate in our ceremony. His family is from FL/GA so ultimately his pastor would be traveling with his family to NY for our wedding. My cousin who is a Deacon in the Diocese of NJ told us he wouldn’t be able to help us unless we married in the Church. This part of the process is the most stressful. We would love for his pastor to officiate. Can we make that possible? If not, what are our alternative options?

It sounds like his pastor would love to officiate, so I’m not sure what the problem is. Is it that the pastor and his whole family would have to be flown in? I can understand flying in your pastor (as a “vendor”) but why his whole family too? If this isn’t possible for you, look for a Baptist pastor in NY that would be local. You could also look into a Methodist minister. They are also very open to all faiths. I’m Catholic and my FH is Methodist, and we are having a Methodist minister.
