Oregon "covid" Brides

McKenzie, on June 5, 2020 at 7:18 PM Posted in Oregon Planning 0 6

For the MOST part Oregon will be going into Phase 2 this weekend, I feel like the Oregon Governor has been unclear and is giving what I would call Muddy answers. We are getting married at my FH's parents and they have 2 acres of property. Here is what is posted on the Oregon.gov website, would that be considered a venue? I mean TECHNICALLY it's the "Venue" of our wedding. There's a big difference between allowing 100 guests and 250 guests..

    If it's hosting a wedding, it's a venue.

That said, this might be best handled by calling your local authorities and discussing the permits needed, as well as the proper safety protocols.

Hi McKenzie! I feel you, these guidelines and phases all seem murky! I'd try to check with caterer or other weddings vendors to see what they've heard and how they're establishing new protocols.

Also here are a few discussions from other Oregon & August brides, hopefully you can figure it out together:

I’m in this exact same situation. I’m getting married 9/5/20 at my FH’s private property that’s multiple acres in Springfield Oregon. We’re trying to have like 175 people there, but right now we cut our guest list to 120 to try to stay somewhat within guidelines. I’m hopeful that nobody will notice an extra 20 people considering it’s a private venue. We’re also not sure if we fall under the category for “larger venues” so we’re having someone try to look into it with our local authorities. Her guidelines seem like there’s a lot of wiggle room. This whole thing is so stressful. Have you guys made any decisions or heard anything about what you’re allowed?

Hopeful we can have the wedding we’ve been dreaming of!

My FH has family in law enforcement and all of them have even said nobody is going to show up and count how many people are there. We sent 134 invites; our original count was 180 and if we start getting no’s then we will send some more. At this point I’m ready to call our wedding a protest and have everyone come 🤷🏻‍♀️🙄😅

We’re doing the exact same thing! Sent out 130 invites and have a backup list if we get any no’s back.
My mom suggested that, having signs making it seem like we’re protesting so nobody questions us 🙄😂
At this point I’m just glad we get to have our wedding at all. 😅
