    Hi Kellie,

The general consensus for August weddings is that you should continue to monitor the situation and try to make a decision by the end of May. You're obviously not alone. Here are some other discussions with August brides:

Our date is 8/22 in Oregon City & we are waiting until the end of May to make a decision. We sent out save the dates in January but have been holding off on official invitations. We also have a lot of people traveling from out of town so that is another factor we are having to consider.

Our hearts hurt and don’t know what to really do besides wait, but we have a lot of planning still to do since we haven’t done anything these last few months. We stopped signing contracts and spending money because we didn’t want to loose any more than what is already on the line. It’s not a fun situation, but we are finding peace together knowing we will still be spending our lives together no matter what the day looks like. It’s been a good reminder what the day is really about!

We are having a private ceremony on 8/27 and a reception for friends and family on 8/29 in Portland. We are waiting until early/mid-June to print invitations and make any decisions!

I was just about to ask if anyone else watched. I still don’t agree with her.

And also, she said large gatherings such as conventions, sporting events, festivals, and concerts. I feel like those are a lot bigger than weddings as far as number of people. So we’ll see how “large” she means.

I have a friend who is a wedding coordinator and said weddings can still happen if the venue says , she said the large gatherings was for fairs , brew fest style ect. I don’t know. I wish weddings had its own category.

Ours is on my FH’s parents property and will all be outside. I just wonder what they are considering large crowds because there definitely is a difference between 100, 200 and 1,000. We’ll see.

I am supposed to be getting married on August 15, 2020 and I don't think we are going to have the big wedding we had originally planned - we are still feeling everything out, but I just don't know how many people would actually come, given the current situation. The govenor has a website and there is a powerpoint PDF that gives more information on the group sizes - my coworker sent this to me - I don't think this is set in stone or anything, but it provides more context to what the govenor meant by large groups - looks like phase 1 is up to 25 people and phase 2 is up to 100 people with social distancing. This is the powerpoint I got my information from. This is the entire website if anyone is curious.

Thanks so much for sharing those links Casey, I have been going through the guidance but hadn't seen the slide deck noting 100 people with social distancing in phase 2. Social distancing just seems really tough in a wedding atmosphere with eating, drinking, dancing... it seems like a lot of the fun parts of the wedding would get lost. I do feel like we have more information but unfortunately it has not made me super hopeful for our August 1 date.

Yeah, that is what we are thinking too - I couldn't imagine trying to dance while social distancing. We are working on thinking on how to pivot - we actually had a couple in our wedding party basically tell us that they would not be comfortable coming to our wedding with everything that is going on Smiley sad

We unfortunately can’t postpone because or outdoor venue said we are allowed to have our wedding August 7th and he has weddings starting late June. He said he’s very confident by August things will be ok. We surprisingly have a lot of guest not worried and feeling fine with carrying on with it as well, I don’t know. It’s a hard situation.

We don’t have a set number of RSVP’s yet but less than 200. I have reached out to most everyone and the response was very positive if things don’t get worse people are still coming.
