Hey there! I am an August 22nd Bride in Ohio! I think we will be okay. I also think you will be okay as well. I feel like with Dewine opening things up and having 98% of the businesses back and running there is no reason why we shouldn't be able to have our dream weddings. Sending positive vibes your way!

    Hi Emily,

Based on the responses from some other OH brides above, maybe you'll be okay for your 150-person wedding. The situation is different everywhere right now, and I'm not aware of the specific orders/regulations in Ohio. You should always seek official local guidance, of course.

Regardless, my advice to all couples who are planning weddings during the COVID-19 pandemic is that you may want to start considering your options *just in case* you have to reduce your guest count. Have you checked with your venue to see what they're recommending?

The general consensus for July weddings is that you should monitor the situation and try to make a decision by the end of May (which is soon, eeek). Obviously, you are NOT alone. Here's a couple of discussions with July brides that may be helpful to you:

I'm hoping for the best and sending all the positive vibes your way! Smiley heart

My venue said if we are still social distancing it would mean:

-dance floor closed except for mother-son and daughter-father dance-tables six feet apart with no more than 10 people. I would have to reduce my guest count.-guests are asked to remain seated
I am hoping I can reschedule if it’s like this....I do not want this kind of wedding. Crossing my fingers things will be better by then.

I am an August 22nd bride in Ohio. I have been closely watching everything. I am thinking within the next couple weeks (maybe less) we will see restrictions lessen. A lot of legislators/cities/companies are suing Dr. Acton and the Governor because Ohio has flattened the curve and they think the restrictions are pointless now. So I am hoping all of us will get good news soon!

Someone showed me this yesterday, it looks like maybe by July there will possibly be dancing though done differently. Which I’m open to lol. At this point with everything opening to the public and the protests everywhere, social distancing is a joke right now. I mean, it’s very very hard to. I still haven’t hugged my parents though because the virus is still real and I’ve known people who passed from it. Maybe I can just have them separated from everyone and have their own area lol .

I agree. I’ve been writing to the governor everyday for him to allow wedding receptions to have dancing and not have social distancing. We have flattened the curve and it’s just him being silly at this point.

    Where do I email?

Yes, I don’t want to be stuck with a reception I paid a of money for if we have to be seated at all times. I would rather postpone but because of his silly rules, my venue has an excuse now that venues are allowed to have wedding receptions.

I would double check on the dance floor next week. The billiard companies took the state to court and they are updating the order to allow for games, dance floors, and entertainment. The order should be updated on the Ohio Dept of Health tomorrow under “Dine safe Ohio.” I finally heard from my venue and we have minimal restrictions. We do have to sign a hold harmless agreement but I am ok with that. Good luck!

You’re welcome! I would make sure you get a copy of that to show your venue to allow a dance floor! We can dance 6 feet apart! 💃🏻🕺🏻

Sources at Franklin Country Public Health as well as the Director of Coalitions have confirmed: This weekend, Director of Health Doctor Amy Acton signed an Amended Dine Safe Ohio Order to modify existing restrictions for Restaurants, Bars, Banquet and Catering Facilities and Services to allow, among other things, dancing.

According to Section 2 of the Revised Dine Safe Ohio Order:

The open congregate areas in restaurants, bars, banquet and catering facilities (billiards, card playing, pinball games, video games, arcade games, dancing, entertainment) are permitted to open but businesses must follow all social distancing guidelines as well as sanitation guidelines as provided in this and other orders.

Please note, this has not yet posted to the Sector Specific Operating Requirements Section and all supporting documentation on the Governor's website still indicates dancing is prohibited. The situation is developing.

Until further official direction is made available, please review the industry-specific best practices for safe dancing as they appear in the proposal submitted June 3rd: View the proposal here
