Laura, on August 24, 2021 at 8:19 PM Posted in New York Planning 0 8
Hi! Just wondering if anyone else on here is getting married in NY this October… what are you guys are thinking and if you’re stressed .. they’re predicting a COVID surge when school starts and I’m not sure if I should postpone. My wedding date is 10/10/21 in Long Island. Invited 200 guests but expecting around 150

I'm going to a reception in November on LI which I expect to be pretty big. So far the couple are moving ahead, but all their stationery clearly says vaccinations are required. I say that unless new restrictions come and force you to change your plans, go ahead with what you have. Less than 1% of those hospitalized are vaccinated, so the risk to your guests is still low, even if it doesn't seem that way.

Ours is 10/31 in NJ bordering NY and expecting 100+. We are requesting all be vaccinated and will also set additional protocols (ie. Masks) depending on what the situation at that time

Hi wedding date twin! I’m also getting married in NY but in the Hudson Valley. We invited 150 and about 110 have RSVPd yes. We are requiring everyone to show proof of vaccination or a negative covid test within 72 hours of the wedding and unvaccinated guests will be asked to mask up. We are nervous, but already postponed from last October and have been planning this wedding for 3 years, so this thing is happening no matter what. We will do our best to make it as safe as possible. It’s looking like about 98% of our guests will be vaccinated. My guess is that things won’t shut down again like they did last year, but that more strict requirements around vaccines and testing may be required to host big events like ours, which I’m totally all for.

Hi twin! Yes I’m thinking that the same. They won’t shut down but definitely going to be more strict which I’m fine with too but unfortunately I think only half of my guests are vaccinated so if the new governor makes restrictions I may have to postpone again. Which I’m also fine with.. it’s just the fear of the unknown ya know? Congrats to you!

Hey Laura, I have the same day and the same count. I am a bit concerned given the delta variant but I hope there all turns out well. My venue said that so far there are no restrictions such as vaccine mandate/ negative PCR / masks in long island. We shall see !!! Hope all turns out well for the both of us.
