October Honeymoon - IDEAS NEEDED!

Dakota, on January 24, 2017 at 9:55 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 16

We are going on our honeymoon this October (2017) but have not decided quite where yet. We want to do Mexico, but there are so many resorts to choose from!

Does anyone have any recommendations on specific resorts/locations? Pros/Cons would be great! We are wanting to do an all-inclusive, all-adult resort! Smiley smile

Thanks in advance!!!

What sort of budget are you trying to stay within? And how long do you want to go for?

We are trying to stay $3,000 and under.. Most resorts I've researched in Mexico on bookit.com for stay and flight have been under that for a 6 day stay!

Excellent Playa Mujeres is all inclusive, adults only, 5 star. We honeymooned there and it was absolutely perfect. Highly recommend you check out that resort. They made us feel so special too!

We were dead set on a mexico honeymoon in early October, but started talking to a travel agent at a bridal show and she said it's still hurricane season at that time. I'm not sure though if we will change our plans just because of the possibility of a hurricane. We have been looking at all-inclusives in the Rivera Maya area and have been wanting to add some excursions to it such as zip-lining and taking a tour to see the cenotes.

@FutureMrsQ2017, Ah I did not even think about hurricane season!! I am sure we will still do Mexico, but that is definitely a risk to consider! I have heard great things about the Rivera Maya. We are wanting to do quite a few excursions as well!! Thank you for letting me know about the hurricane season! Smiley smile

We did an All inlcusive in Mexico this october and the weather was beautiful but a little on the hot side --we booked in April and got a great deal $90 per person per night!

It is hurricane season there which is why its cheaper, but just get trip insurance and you will be fine!

Hi @Dakota - I am also getting married and honeymooning in Oct of this year and also looking at Mexico and right around your budget! I'm currently looking at cheap caribbean. However, I wanted to mention that Costco has a travel section (go to their website). FH and I are members so we may go through them as they also have some pretty stellar deals. Good luck!

If you are on a tight budget, Mexico, Jamaica and Punta Cana are the 3 most budget friendly destinations with a wide range of all-inclusive resorts, both adult -only and family friendly. All of the destinations offer a nice array of excursions off of the resorts.

The choices really depend on your personal preferences. Not all resorts are created equally though online they all look great!

We are avoiding anything Mexico/Caribbean due to hurricane season, you may be able to get a better deal though and just be sure to get travel insurance

We stayed at the Riu Palace in Costa Rica and it was awesome! It was around $1,200 per person and we each brought $500 in cash for tips, excursions, souvenirs, etc. We booked through cheapcaribbean.com.

Good afternoon everyone, I wanted to say please do not let someone tell you that you shouldn't go to Mexico/Caribbean during hurricane season. That is why you purchase travel insurance so that you can have peace of mind just in case the unforeseeable happens and there are many other things that can take place other than a hurricane. Trust me on that. I have seen many other couples glad they had purchased travel insurance for circumstances other than hurricanes, like the groom passing out during the wedding and rushed to the ER for an overnight stay. Needless to say, they missed their flight to Tahiti, but all was well.

The best value for your honeymoon dollars will be found in the Riviera Maya, Jamaica, Punta Cana and the Bahamas. However, each destination is unique so make sure you go with the one that best suits your personalities and interests. For example, if you love sea turtles and you have always wanted to watch them hatch and make their way back to the sea, then the Riviera Maya would be your best bet!

Hope this helps and Happy Honeymooning!

I just got back from Isla Mujeres in December (celebrating my 30th) - It was perfect! lots of restaurants to choose from great food, nice beach, and the people were just lovely! we stayed at Privilege Aluxes in Playa Norte. I have not one negative thing to say about our trip.

Keep in mind that Western Mexico is less affected by hurricanes than Cancun and other areas. It depends on where you are and how far you want to travel - we're thinking Cabos because it's the only place we can get a direct flight and we'd rather spend less time traveling.

Thank you so much to everyone for the wonderful suggestions! We will definitely be purchasing travel insurance just to be safe. We have narrowed it down to Excellent Playa Mujeres Resort and Valentin Imperial Maya Resort!! We cannot wait.

    Thank you again everyone!!!
