October diy Ideas

Bridgette, on July 20, 2019 at 9:25 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 2 25
For our wedding, we're going very DIY heavy but I don't want it to look DIY (if that makes any sense 🤦🏼‍♀️). I found these on pinterest and I was planning on doing something similar to this. Both my fiance and I cross stitch so we were going to make our table numbers together. I was thinking about staking the table numbers into the pumpkin bouquet and having little pumpkins with candles near it. Our theme is sorta vintage fall festival meets Halloween but not Halloween. 😂
Would this look okay together or would it be too much? Also, should I use real pumpkins or craft pumpkins?

It really is! But here in MD it's either still summer or it rains for 3 weeks straight lol.

Fall decor can be so fun. My son and DIL
used bales of hales and mums as well. They had a rustic wedding.

I don't think it's too much at all! Everything looks lovely and great for your fall wedding. I feel like craft pumpkins would be a safer bet than real ones!

Definitely craft pumpkins. I'm also using them for centerpieces, except mine are going to have succulents in them. The craft pumpkins are a safer bet because you can put them together whenever and don't have to worry about them rotting.

My only concern with the craft pumpkins is they can look a little fake sometimes. But dealing with rotting pumpkins days before the actual wedding sounds like a nightmare. 😦

We are getting married on October 30th 2020 and those are some of the ideas I’ve gotten on different sites. I wanted to include a Halloween vibe without orange and to have it a little dark and moody yet romantic In a way, we are using golds and whites to help lessen the boldness of the dark colors but I don’t think the pumpkin thing is too much. Any pumpkin ideas I have will
    be DIY!!!

We wanted to do something Halloween but not like rustic or add orange so we went for black gold and deep red/burgundy with accents of white!

I would have a Halloween wedding if my fiance was 100% okay with it. He's fine with subtle hints of Halloween and keeping it more gothic than anything. I'm going for something similar to what you're doing! All colors are going to be a dark autumn theme with accents of gold and black.

Yeah he wasn’t okay with something that was full on Halloween which I understand. As much as I love Halloween, there’s still a part of me that wanted a “elegant” wedding and considering I don’t dress “gothic” it would be odd having a full on gothic style wedding so it ended up somewhere in the middle!

We have a fall wedding this year! FH said no pumpkins to me because I saw some ideas. But it's okay I came up with other plans and I am sure our venue will have their own pumpkin and mum decor on the grounds.

I would use fake pumpkins for the flower centerpieces and I wouldn't see why you couldn't use real ones for the candles but I have seen plenty of those candle pumpkins in craft stores and decor places already made up! I would check this season and check for sales then buy them now! There are some good pumpkins that don't look fake. I would just be considered about real pumpkins getting mushy and just the smell of the pumpkin.

Cute! I'd use craft pumpkin so they don't rot or get sticky.

Well, as someone who has DIY'd a LOT of my October wedding, allow me to chime in.

    1) Those look great

    2) DIY usually takes a LOT longer than one expects. Gather your MOH, FMIL, your second cousin once removed whomever is crafty and get a group to do stuff with you. It will make it go faster and take some of the pressure off of you

    3) Real or craft pumpkins? Since they are going to be at eye level, I would go with getting real pumpkins. You may wanna check out this page. https://www.womansday.com/home/decorating/a56701/how-to-make-pumpkins-last-longer/ It would allow you to gut the pumpkin a few days in advance and then put it together right before if you are using fresh flowers.

    4) Yay for October weddings!

I wish I thought of that pumpkin idea for my centerpieces! We have mini pumpkins we are using centerpieces but that big one is beautiful!
