October brides in Maryland

Daisha, on June 1, 2020 at 9:23 PM Posted in Maryland Planning 0 4
Hey ladies! Praying you all are well in this trying time. Are there any Maryland brides with an October wedding? Mine is October 16th, and as of now I’ve kept the date as planned, although my venue hasn’t been able to tell us anything regarding how things would go. Basically it’s a waiting game to see what phase we’re in/ what restrictions are at that time... I’ve been so stressed today that I’m seriously considering postponing. I can’t even put into words how frustrated I am with all of the uncertainty and stress. I’m tired of crying, tired of stressing and it’s just becoming unhealthy some days. Just wanted to know how others in my shoes are handling things at this point.
Praying God’s peace and comfort for us all.
Xo

Not a MD bride, but we're set to get married in Pittsburgh on October 24 of this year. I can at least relate to the stress of it all! We're playing the waiting game until the end of July, when our invitations would be sent out. We're planning as normal (especially since so many spring / summer weddings were postponed to the fall), but will ultimately make a final decision end of July / beginning of August as to whether to carry on as normal, or our Plan B is to have a small ceremony with immediate family and postpone the reception to next year when things SHOULD be more "normal".

    Two things that helped me:

    1) Put a "Decision Day" date in your phone / calendar (our reception vendor said they are making plans with couples 60-90 days out). Even putting that little date in my calendar is helping me worry less about the idea of postponing UNTIL that date.

    2) Talk with your ceremony / reception vendors! I see that you said your vendor hasn't been helpful, but can you reach out to another person that you're planning with and asking how other brides are planning as of now (photographer, caterer, transportation, etc.)? Our church and reception location have both reached out to us to let us know what the current restrictions are, the plans for potentially postponing, when to make the next moves, etc. It was helpful hearing from them, who are working on DOZENS of COVID weddings, than having to worry about it all myself! Even if they don't know the answers now, they might be able to say "let's figure this out on XYZ" date.

Good luck with planning on your end!

Hey! I am getting married in Edgewater on October 3rd. We have decided to not postpone the wedding but we did limit the guest list from 157 to 65. We are only hosting immediate family and wedding party. We are also getting married in my fiance's parent's backyard which makes it a little easier I think... that we won't have a venue dictating rules or numbers. But we wanted to keep everyone safe and not have to abide by certain rules since we are now at a much smaller number.
