October 2020 wedding… 80 guests……covid-19!!

Elizabeth, on April 26, 2020 at 2:11 PM Posted in Maine Planning 0 5
So our wedding is planned for October 24, 2020, we have 80 guests in attendance, but with COVID19 changing everyone’s plans we don’t know where we fall. We know that couples with weddings in April May and June right now are being advised to postpone. But with our wedding in October, we are a little unsure of when we should start planning to postpone.

We’ve already talked about some things, but I think that it would really help me particularly if I had a date in mind that if the pandemic wasn’t under control by this date, then that means that we postpone. By setting a date to say yes we will or no we don’t have to, this would ease my anxiety a little. I know that there’s no way of knowing how bad it will be at that time, but at least I might be able to get some expert advice on how close we can get to our original date like this, before we need to say “not going to happen, we need to postpone.”
Please only knowledgeable advice for this question. Sometimes when personal opinion gets involved it can make questions like these even more stressful, so please be conscientious in your response. No Catastrophizing or underplaying. Thank you so so much and best wishes to all the couples out there going through the replanting/waiting phase of this whole thing. Stay strong.

    October 10th, here.

Our state's Safer at Home order is currently issued through May 26th. We're starting to think about our options, but will make an official decision in the weeks following that date. Honestly, if we have to postpone, I'd much rather do it a few months ahead of time than last minute in August or September.

    Hi Elizabeth!

This is definitely a crazy stressful and uncertain time for everyone! It seems like a lot of October brides are waiting a few more months before making postponement decisions, but everyone's situation is different and it never hurts to be proactive about plan b!

You also aren't alone right now! ❤️

There are a ton of October couples also talking about their Covid-19 concerns in these discussions:

Stay positive and hang in there!

Sarah, do you live in Wisco? I have the same wedding date as you. I'm hoping we have more clarity as to how October will be once the Safer at Home order ends.

Yes! Our wedding is in Milwaukee, and the DNC being rescheduled for August is giving me some hope, but I'm not sure how it will all pan out. Do you know when you'll decide by?

I really hope to know more by mid June. Not sure yet when we'll make a decision. I'll be contacting my venue then if there is any indication that we'll still have restrictions come October. Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞
