Oahu and Maui Honeymoon

Samantha, on June 23, 2018 at 9:51 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 13

Hi all,

My Fiancé' and I are planning on going to Hawaii for our honeymoon. We are thinking of doing 3 nights in Oahu and 7 nights in Maui.

Has anyone been to either island and can give us a suggestion if our time frame is on point? My parents went there 30 years ago for there honeymoon and said 10 days is perfect.

Also if anyone has an Maui resort reccomendations, were going to book through liberty travel but were trying to find a hotel in the 300-400$ range.

Thanks!

I spent a little time on Oahu a number of years ago. Wikiki is a man made beach and not terribly interesting, except for people watching. Hanauma Bay is super interesting and gets more interesting every year as it comes back from over-fishing. I recommend that and a drive along the eastern shore.

I'm on Oahu right now. Are you looking for touristy/night life things or just relaxing?

You want to stay in Waikiki/Honolulu then for touristy stuff. We're staying up north on some land with a private cottage. I love the relaxing atmosphere, but there is literally nothing to do after about 8 pm. We were just saying how we wished we had split our stay up to have more to do at night.

I’d recommend staying in Waikiki - you are still close enough to sight see - we did the crater, Pearl Harbor, Etc. For a few days before boarding a cruise around the islands, and it was great Smiley smile

Check out the grand wilea on Maui!!! They have a private beach with the most unobstructed view of the sunset in the world. Literally the most beautiful place I’ve ever been to.

On Maui, we stayed at the Royal Lahaina Resort; it was nice, very comfortable, and we thought pretty reasonable. It was an easy walk to Whalers Village for shopping, etc. We did the luau that is associated with the resort. We got up at 3am one morning to drive to Haleakala for sunrise -- it seemed like kind of a crazy thing to do at the time, but it was one of our favorite parts of the trip. Most of the crowd will leave right after sunrise; we hung around for an hour or two and did a little hiking. It was incredibly beautiful and peaceful. On our way back down, we stopped at the Kula Lodge for a delicious breakfast. We took a helicopter ride, and loved the little beach town of Paia. We did a snuba boat trip -- loved the sea turtles best. Everything was wonderful! We live in So California and enjoyed Maui so much!

FYI, the USS Arizona memorial at Pearl Harbor is closed for an indefinite amount of time right now.

FH and I were just in Hawaii in December (went to 5 of the islands) we did not enjoy Oahu at all but that's just us. We got engaged in Maui so obviously that holds a special place for us. I can't recommend resorts as we were on a cruise but I do recommend going to Lahaina. We loved it there lots of little shops and a gorgeous park with a massive banyan tree (I fell in love with the banyan trees FH not so much)

We are doing Oahu & Maui too! Next July. Shorter than yours though, probably 7 nights total. Oahu we plan on doing more tourist things like Polynesian Cultural Arts Center, Pearl Harbor Memorial, Kualoa Ranch, a luau, the zoo, Turtle Bay (of course!). We plan on spending more time in Oahu than Maui. Then Maui we plan on doing a lot of hiking, snorkeling, and scuba diving. I think we are going to do a hotel half the time, and a VRBO condo rental the other half.

We are going to Maui this August. We are staying at The Westin for 5 nights and then the Grand Wailea for 3 nights. We got excellent deals for the hotels on Hotwire. The Westin was 195 dollars a night (regularly 530.00) and the Grand Wailea was 230 per night (regularly 700.00). We are planning to go on a catamaran to snorkel, go on the stargazing tour on the mountain (my fiancé likes that sort of stuff) and then we plan to rent clear bottom kayaks. Other than those adventures we plan to relax on the beach and go hiking in the bamboo forest in Hana.
