NWR: How long does it take to get your hair done at salon?

Mai-Tai, on January 4, 2016 at 4:15 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 41

Just got home after getting my hair done. I had colour, (highlights and lowlights), cut, style, and brows waxed. My appointment was at 10:30am, I finally left the salon at 3:30pm., that's 5 hrs, yes, 5 hours!!! I woke up late this morning, so I didn't get to pack a lunch or a snack. Needless to say, I'm starving and thirsty! I dread having to go get my hair done! (First-world problem) Rant over! LOL.

Can anyone relate?

Wow, that is a LONG time! I could not stand that. I'm usually there 2 - 2.5 hours but that includes highlights/lowlights, toner, cut, blow dry & style AND also full color, cut, blow dry & style for my mom (because we always go together).

I'm normally there about 3.5 hours for highlights, toner, cut, blow dry, and that's every 6-8 weeks.... If I'm changing hair color it's even longer...

No, not normal from my experience. The only time that happened to me (4 hours for highlights, cut, blow dry) was when I went to a girl who was new at the salon. I was told later that because she didn't have many clients she tried to drag out the appointments she had so as not to be bored. Ugh. Never went back there.

Was it a black salon? Seriously though that is a long time. Go get a sandwich and some wine.

I'm usually there for 4 hours for color, highlights, style...without a cut. I love it though, very relaxing to me so I don't mind spending half my day there Smiley smile Also, I have a lot of hair.

I'm usually there around 3 hours for wash, deep conditioning treatment, blow dry, trim and style. My hair is really curly so detangling is a process.

Wow. I had a really long appointment once, but it was because she was stripping a box red that I used and working on getting me back to blonde. My average is probably about 2-2.5 hours.

Omg, I don't think I've ever had an appointment that lasted over 30 minutes.

When I had my hair color completely changed from dark brown to a burgundy and blonde, it took four hours. Touch ups only take maybe an hour or so.

Wow. You ladies are committed. 3-4.5 hours? For that amount of time I better be getting wine.

Obviously it depends what you get done and how much hair you have. My hair is to my waist, and just a regular dye job takes at least 3 hours. I just got it done last week, black to purple ombre, and it took 4.5 hours. If I had gotten a style and my brows done, I would've been there for another hour.

I do the coloring myself and FH does the buzzcut/undercut. Whenever I need a trim on my long side, it never takes me longer than ca 30 mins (and they give me a beer, yay!).

I used to get a haircut as a hair model and there I'd hang out for several hours too, but I got a free haircut and free color.

Wow, that seems like a long time. My hair is to my mid-back and I usually have a full color, cut, style, and brow wax. Usually takes her about 2-2.5 hours.

When I had my hair cut and colored at a salon I was there for around 2 hours. Now that my friend (who is a stylist and has her license) does my hair in her home I'm there for 4-5 hours which is starting to really annoy me. Love her to death but she is extremely slow with hair. I can't sit that long!

That's crazy lol. My hair color is natural, so my hair appointments consist of wash, deep conditioning treatment, cut and blow dry/straighten which takes about 45 mins.-1 hour!

I am a hairstylist and that is quite a long time for a professional, but honestly thats how long I would take to do those particular services. I can do a basic color in no time but highlights get me so OCD it takes me forever lol

It takes 3 to 4 hours for me to get my hair wash, deep condition, steamed and blow dried. For all of what you had done it sounds about right. For me and my daughters the salon is usually an all day experience.

I've had a 5 hour appointment, it's usually around 3.5. She has to lighten my roots and sometimes the rest of the hair before she can out a new color in, then let that set and rinse and cut/ dry.
