November 2023 Wedding Weather in Maryland

Alisha, on May 27, 2022 at 7:58 AM Posted in Maryland Planning 0 2
Hey y’all! We ar e planning a wedding for November 11, 2023 in southern Anne Arundel County and holding the entire wedding outdoors. We know it’s going to be a little chilly but don’t want it down right cold. We are providing some heating during the reception for after the sun goes down as well. Anyone advice from someone who has gotten married around the same time frame would be great! We know Maryland weather is unpredictable as it is but want a good experience, even if that means moving the date up a little. Thank you in advance for any advice 😊

I've lived in the region for 10+ years and would say any date later than late October would be tricky for an all-outdoor wedding since the weather tends to be on the chilly side past then. I went to a wedding a couple years ago in AACO during the first weekend in November and the outdoor ceremony was a bit cold. At the very least, be sure to warn your guests that the whole event will be outdoors so they dress appropriately. Maybe also consider moving your timeline earlier to maximize daylight and provide sources of heat like those heat towers restaurants use on their patios (and if the reception is under a tent, side walls will also help trap heat inside and block the wind).

I live just south of where you are getting married and I can tell you that November weather is all over the place. Sometimes the days are in the 60's and sunny, other times it is 40° and raining. On average it is just bellow 50°F in November, which is quite chilly for an outdoor event! Lows for November can be just above freezing. If you are set on the location and having an outdoor wedding then tell guests to dress for the weather, provide heaters as needed (not just after sundown), serve hot drinks, and possibly provide lap blankets for the ceremony. Wind protection will also help keep your guests warm if it turns out to be a cold day. Good luck! You have some time to figure things out.
