North Idaho Wedding

Kandace, on June 23, 2017 at 1:21 AM Posted in Idaho Planning 1 8

Hi all Smiley smile I just got engaged last Friday, but would really like to get the ball rolling on planning. I'm hoping to get the majority of it done this summer before going back to work for the school year. Any suggestions for ANYTHING in the north Idaho area (especially Coeur d'Alene) would be great! I'm trying to be as frugal as absolutely possible, planning on a country/rustic wedding, and hoping for an outdoor wedding next summer. Thank in advance and congratulations everyone Smiley smile

Congrats Kandace and welcome! Before you start planning you will need to set a budget and then create a guest list and find a venue. Once you find your venue get your other big vendors out of the way such as photographer and DJ. If you are trying to be frugal I would suggest DIYing a lot. Are you planning your outdoor wedding in someones backyard or at a venue? If it is in a backyard I will warn you that it is A LOT more expensive than doing in at an actual venue.

After you get the big stuff out of the way it should be smooth sailing. Enjoy the planning process and don't let it stress you out.

Thank you, Kelly! I was wondering the difference between a venue and backyard wedding so that's great info to know.

    Thank you Justine!

I can also add, don't waste your money on favors, unless it is something edible. Most people really do not want something that is engraved or with your name and info on it, no matter how much they love you.

Yay!! I'm from Idaho Smiley smile but I'm not from north Idaho and all I know about weddings there is that it's super expensive unless it's like a private property! But I'm sure if you start looking now you will find something! Congrats

This isn't in Coeur d'Alene, but if you're open to the idea of something in Moscow, ID this is a place we considered! http://www.meadowinds.org/DrawWeddings.aspx It's a neat place and my favorite part was that what you pay in fees goes towards helping nonprofits with an emphasis in education. If you're set on Spokane/Coeur d'Alene area, look into properties on airbnb or vrbo that might be lakeside. Those usually end up being cheaper than a traditional wedding venue. Hope this helps!

I don't know when you are planning on getting married but a not to expensive venue place is Farragut State Park. It's up in Athol/Bayview area, only about 45 minutes North of Coeur d'Alene. It is only about a few hundred dollars and isn't a bad place to at least look at and it's right off of Lake Pond Oreille.
