North Carolina honeymoon

Shelby, on October 27, 2019 at 10:09 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11
Hi everyone!

We are Floridians who have a love for North Carolina. We got engaged at the Biltmore estate because I love it so much! We are tossing up honeymoon ideas at the moment. Because we are in Florida we are debating on doing a short trip to Disney World. But we are also debating on just making the drive to North Carolina. I’ve done some research on places but if any locals have suggestions I’m open to them.

So what are some recommendations on honeymoon spots in N.C.? 😊

Congrats! I live in NC. I guess it depends on your tastes! NC has a lot to offer from beaches to mountains. Topsail beach/island are popular. So is emerald isle. There's also the Outer Banks with the wild horses! Or Cape Hatteras lighthouse. Or Fort Macon! Or my family just visited Bryson NC! It's close to the TN border. Home of the great smoky mountain railroad!

I’m from NC and we love the NC mountains. We’re getting married near Asheville. We’ve taken some romantic vacations to Chimney Rock - Esmeralda Inn, Chetola Resort in Blowing Rock, and Riverdance Bed & Breakfast in Marshall. Shell Island Resort in Wilmington was good, Ocean Isle Beach is super nice, and everyone loves the Outer Banks although I haven’t been able to save enough money to go out there as an adult. There’s a lot of restaurants and shopping in Charlotte if that’s more of your vibe.

Thank you! I’m thinking more mountain vibe, since we’re near the beaches all the time and don’t even go to them lol. Asheville is definitely one of our favorite places! I looked at the cottages in Biltmore, that’s definitely on my list. We did the railroad in Bryson on one of our vacations! His grandparents are about an hour or so from there 😊.

We love the mountains as well! I have a friend in Charlotte. Chimney Rock is still on my bucket list of places I’ve been wanting to visit!

I’m a NC native who also lived in FL for a time! We got married in the NC mountains and did a minimoon in Banner Elk & it was great! It’s a cute town and there was a lot of things to do around there. Boone is only about 20 minutes away. Linville falls and caverns is really cool. Grandfather Mountain was a lot of fun! There are also a lot of wineries to check out if you are into that. We rented a cabin that had amazing views. I’d highly recommend Banner Elk. I also love Asheville, but since you got engaged there, I would try something different. And Banner Elk is a slightly slower pace, which for a honeymoon, is nice.

Thank you so much! I was definitely thinking of maybe somewhere there that we haven’t been to. Grandfather mountain is another thing that has been on my bucket list to do out there for quite some time. Thank you for the suggestions, I will also be putting these on my list 😊

We're from SC, so we've been to NC quite a bit! We plan on getting a cabin in Maggie Valley and doing various activities there, Cherokee, and Asheville! So far on our to-do list I've got a motorcycle history museum, The Biltmore, chocolate factory tour, casino, pinball museum, some hiking, and hopefully lots of shopping & restaurants!

If you're going for a mountain vibe I would definitely recommend something around Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk. There are some beautiful resorts around there that can be all inclusive if you're looking for something like that. I've also stayed at some cute cabins in Spruce Pine, but there are really a ton of cabins up there you can rent. You could really just check out any of the towns along the blue ridge parkway depending on what you're looking for.

If you have not been to Biltmore, it is amazing! It’s my favorite place (next to Disney lol). Chocolate factory would be so fun! I’ve never been to a casino, I definitely would like to though! FH grandparents are about an hour or so from Cherokee so we always drive through there when we come back from Gatlinburg 😊

I think Blowing Rock has more stuff that we have been holding off on doing for vacations because it’s so far from the house we stay in when we come up that way, so maybe now is the time to do those things! Thank you for all these suggestions ☺️
