nola in August?

Lauren, on March 31, 2019 at 9:22 PM Posted in Louisiana Planning 0 6
Has anyone gone to New Orleans in August? My MOH is trying to plan my bachelorette in August and I’ve always wanted to go to NOLA. However upon quick search it seems many say the weather is unbearable that month. I’m getting married in September and really my only options are June or August because of work. If anyone has been during those times I’d love to hear how it was and if you think it’s worth it or if we should find somewhere less humid. Thanks!!

It'll be crazy humid, I'm not gonna lie. But that doesn't necessarily mean you'll have a bad time! If you really want to go there and it's your best option for when to go, then it's really just about knowing what you're getting into and planning for the weather, making sure to take lots of breaks from sightseeing/city walking to go indoors, drink tons of water, take breaks in the middle of the day and go back out at night, etc.

    Hi Lauren!

I LOVE New Orleans. I visited there in 2017 with some girlfriends and had a blast!

It will be very humid in August, however, as the previous poster advised if you really want to visit, be prepared itinerary and packing wise.

I'm not used to hot climates (I'm Irish and the hottest it gets in Ireland during the Summer is 46 - 53°F!) and we visited for July 4th!!! It was so humid, but we expected it and packed accordingly!

Speak with your MOH and express your concerns. If you think the humidity is a deal breaker for you, you may need to consider alternative locations.

If you do decide to continue with your plans for Nola, here is a great guide from the WeddingWire ideas section - A New Orleans Bachelorette Party Itinerary.

Is there another location, apart from Nola, you've always wanted to visit?

Thank you both! I wen to Miami last summer in mid August and it was fine but all the stuff I was finding made it seem like NOLA was unbearable. I don’t love the hot but if I have a pool or ocean I can deal. I just don’t want to be so hot I can breathe. I went to Aruba one year and it was so bad we basically didn’t leave the hotel. Biggest waste of money ever so ever since them I’m just so weary!

Sorry I realized I didn’t reply directly to your comment and didn’t address the last part.! See below this reply for first response.

As far as another option I can’t think of any! I’ve been to Vegas and Miami. Not a country music fan so Nashville is out. I wanted somewhere I hadn’t been and still was looking for warm weather as it will be summer. Do not want to leave the country either. Open to any suggestions!

It’s hot! But there’s plenty of stuff you can do to cool off. Like a day at The Country Club in the Bywater or the rooftop bar/pool at the Ace. The Bach House on Frenchmen st holds up 5-7 girls and will decorate the house, do goodie bags etc

The festival announced late Friday that it will move its July 1-5 dates "closer to the fall."
